1st & 2nd gear stuck?

Hey guys I'm not sure if anyone has experienced this issue, I'm fairly new and haven't been able to find anything about it.

So basically as I was driving today just like any other day, I am at a stop light and i go to shift to 1st, but couldn't, kept going into 3rd, so i try 2nd, that takes me right into 4th.
After a little bit of playing around trying to get going at this stop light lol I find that if I lift the little thing to put it into reverse and go about halfway to reverse it'll allow me to go up into 1st or even 2nd.
Anyone know of what could fix this? everything was fine until earlier today. I mean it seems to engage fine once I'm able to find the gear.

Hi YoungChow ......

Bummer your car isn't shifting proper......

Sounds to me like something in the shifting linkage has come unglued.

If your car is under warranty, I would suggest you take it into the dealer ASAP.

There are several threads that discuss this type of issue you may wish to review.

Calling @Tcoat to list them ......

I'll take a wild guess that you failed to mention you have a TRD short shifter kit installed.

It came loose. It will keep coming loose because it's a shitty design. Some people have had luck using red loctite on the bolt.

Personally, I suggest removing it and chucking it in the trash.

Thanks for the information man. I'll probably take it down to the dealership because it was factory installed and might still be under warranty, but ill for sure look at other shifters, Really appreciate it!

Ugh... I'm sorry. It really is an atrocious little device. Ask them about the red loctite. If it comes loose again, seriously, chuck it.

Bubba says to weld that bolt in place ..........

BTW, what is with the attraction of "short shifters" ...... ??

Why isn't the OEM shifter short enough .. ??

Is it because the young-ens want something like that was on the controller of their video games .. ??

Bubba doesn't realize the mounted adapter doesn't fit through the ball socket.

It's a money maker because it's cool. IMO, the stock throw is already as short as it can be to get enough leverage against the synchros. It's already pretty slow to match at 6500 RPM. Can't rush this gearbox.

I've tried. (You and Tcoat know what I mean.)

Don’t mean to revive an old thread, but what if the bolt and the pin is all tight, using red loctite, but the shifter is still loose? As in a shit show of wiggle room while in neutral, in gears, and having a difficult time trying to get in to reverse?

If you can rotate the shift lever at all it's a definite sign that the adapter came loose. Let's start there.
