It's the dress uniform hat with the crown in the OP's linked video at the 1:40 mark that looks silly. Mounties don't count, they're the best.

Our cops look spiffy at photo op times too, like the Portland Chief of Police.



Lately you're more likely to find beat cops downtown equipped like this to handle Antifa riots.

But the Mounties have a cap with a crown on it as well! Picking the cap as the defining feature is pretty specific.


The Portland police uniform cap isn't exactly a fashion statement either.

Lots of gold stripes, ropes and scrambled eggs on the dress uniforms are good, though.

Portland is so PC they can't let their uniforms become too gender specific so they wind up looking generic.

Mounties sport crowns on their hats? I guess if they do it's tolerable with Royal in their job description.

All those picture above are Mounties. I don't think I have ever seen a Mountie in the red coat and campaign hat anyplace other than Parliament Hill and movies.
