Ah .... yes, deuterium oxide, D20. Yep, that additional 10% in weight (roughly) just might make a difference ........

So, do you notice the difference between a full tank of gas and an almost empty tank of gas ..... ??

We'll work down from 80 pounds ......

The explanation, I was swinging wide on left hand turns probably because I was compensating for the extra weight feeling while coming through a turn. Compensating for the lack of grip I might perceive and swinging wide based on how my car responded through the corner, and not wanting to upset the front end. So MAYBE a fresh set of tires might make it all better. Maybe on my set of tires I could have turned more aggressively, at the sake of MORE body roll (don't deny this, cmon) but didn't want to upset my driving balance.

The left hand turns though was the kicker for me though. I have a banked uphill curve coming into my apartment which I enter in 2nd gear, go up and downshift to 1st to enter the lot. The car absolutely felt like a rock coming through it and the added 10-15lbs is the only explanation I have for it other than muh throttle response, which I still don't think it was.
Have you checked the tyre pressures?

In fact a full fuel tank helps to lower the cog, so it is not really the same. There is a reason to make the tank like this and place it very very low in the car:

But overall, yes I notice a difference in accelaration when the tank is almost empty.

@nikitopo I can definitely tell the difference between a full tank, half tank, and quarter tank too. Mostly just a difference in the sound, much louder on an empty tank than on a full tank. But the weight is definitely felt going around the corners I've mentioned previously.

Sure but this gives a very high c.o.g. when the car is on its roof.

I lost the junk in the trunk a while back. 40lbs +/-

The car feels much more planted with a full tank to me.

A veteran M/C rider would notice the difference at half a tank !

I put too much sealant in my front tire on my downhill bike last week, and every time I hit a jump I would go flying over the bars due to the increased weight from the extra sealant...

I think this analogy is applicable when discussing fuel in the tank, air in the tires or obese car batteries..

Well, OK, fair enough.

I believe that gas tanks on most cars (after the Model T Ford) (except VW and a few others) had their gas tanks placed low and in the rear .....
