Very new to tuning. To much to grasp in a few days. Can someone confirm this is correct.
I will be puting in a 2.75" Perrin Intake this weekend in my 16 FR-S.
I used these numbers provided by the forum

And placed them in the Rom program.

The saved it as a new file back into the OTS file where the original Stage 1 93 Tune was found.

*To change car to the new tune do I need to return to stock first?

Thank you in advance

looks ok

no you don't need to flash to stock first just flash the new tune. previous tune will be erased then new one written.

that perrin scaling will get you in the ball park but your likely going to need to log and tweak it a bit.

How long are your commutes & do you have any additional engine mods (or heavier wheels & tires)?

I can tell you from my experience, my MPG went down once I started shorter commutes to work. I used to average 27MPG, now I average 19MPG on stg2-93 UEL (was 22MPG on stg1-93).

Yes, short commutes as usual. I used to get the standard 21/30 before OFT, with no other mods. Not that I'm gonna stop using it, but if there's a way to improve it, why not?

True. It may be the cause of colder temps & winter blend gasoline.

Someone else should chime in...

Winter MPG may also be affected by higher rolling resistance of winter tires. And of course with sum of all those factors.

Umm guys, I didn't find anything on this elsewhere so here goes :

Thinking of reducing tire diameters to a size which go below the state permitted tolerances and thus gonna have to adjust the speedo reading. Can I do that using oft?

IIRC no. But then again speedo lies on about the all new cars since 199# something. With smaller wheels it will just lie more. Why not simply drive with some navigation app and see real speed by gps at few common speeds you drive on public roads & then just remember those few numbers? (eg. highway speed/city speed/common speed reduce speed).

I started getting poorer gas mileage once I installed the header and tune. You have to realize the OEM tune was designed to hit fuel economy targets first (don't forget CAFE) and then safely maximize power at the given fuel economy. The OFT tunes unlock additional power without regard for fuel economy.

There's a thread on here where people were modifying their OFT tunes to try and extract better economy while keeping some of the gains if that's important to you. But remember, you're fighting basic physics - an ICE makes power by igniting fuel, so all else being equal it makes more power when more fuel is used, and vice versa.

I still get 20 city and I'm full 2.5 uel header back exhaust. If you're getting poor mpg it's most likely due to a fueling error aka LTFT... scale your MAF and watch mpg go up. If you wanna take it a step further play with VVT and maximize VE. Every car is different and once you get the MAF curve correct. You're good.
