Welcome to the forums. Serious answer:

My 2019 Sport-tech RS is also insanely notchy from 1st to 2nd. If I don't row perfectly longitudinal to the car it will clank into 2nd - I fkin hate it. The Raiu is even worse due to the short shifter. The trick is to not put more pressure than you have to against the left side of the gate so you don't snag the reverse gate. Guide it back, don't pull diagonally towards you.

I also noticed that I can only get it to smoothly slip into 2nd if I'm rolling off slowly and immediately shift from 1st to 2nd at 11kph, or shifting into 2nd at the redline. Anything in between sometimes it will clank into 2nd.

If the transmission is cold, I'll go 1st --> neutral --> 2nd with the shifter. All the while, I'm clutched in the whole time (not double clutching). For some reason, it works well for me. Much less notchiness. Used to do it on my previous VW as well. Else, I'd get locked out during really cold weather.

When the temp gets up (15 minutes or so), I'll just shift regularly 1-->2 and it's pretty smooth. Sometimes can feel the synchros if I try to shift too quickly but it's a lot better than when it's cold.

Either way, gears 1-3 have triple-coned synchros. I like to think on stock power, it lasts longer than any of us will care to own the car.

You'll hear and sometimes feel a lot of things you ordinarily don't in most other cars, due to the lack of insulatio,n and the transmission being right beside your leg. So long as the car runs ok, it seems to be the norm. Drive on!
