The first 19 pages has a few people stating they had problems with this. Of course it was reportedly never really a problem in the first place, but I like to give myself some breathing room for idiocy.

For me kinking was not a problem, you just have to twist where the fitting meets the hose. However, I did get rubbing. I twisted the lines to avoid touching anything but when pressurize, it tries to straighten itself so it always twists the hose on the fitting back to where it wants to. So the hose touches the wire harness on the oil control valve. I had to cut up and wrapped that part with some radiator hoses to protect it. Now the wiring harness is being pushed into the oil control valve but I'm not sure if it will cause issues in the future. Might rub through the wire protector and eventually the wires.

Another issue I had is the lower radiator hose touching the bottom of the oil control valve when pressurize. Since the radiator is thicker, it pushes the hose towards the back (I think). The gap is much smaller so when I used the included 1.4bar radiator cap, it pressurized it too much to where the hose touches the bottom of the lower oil control valve. I swapped to the oem radiator cap and pushed the hose attached to the radiator as in as possible. I probably have about a cm of space when pressurized now. Close but no touching now.

I've only had it for a month so I can't tell you any long term issue. It worked on the track keeping my temps between under 230F all day.

How does this compare to something like a dedicated Jackson oil cooler and a Mishimoto radiator? I'm not sure if this combination radiator + oil cooler is as effective as having them as separate components.

I don't think it's entirely reasonable to compare this unit to two dedicated separate units. Separate dedicated (high end) units could be more "effective" than this combo unit, but that also depends on your definition of effective.

This combo unit is quite effective for my use-case of tracking a turbocharged car in NJ Fall ambient temperatures of 50-70F (only time of the year I've tracked so far) as well as during warm up of the daily driver after a cold start in sub-freezing NJ winters. My oil temperature on the track was in the sweet spot of 220-230: hot enough to burn off anything that isn't oil but not hot enough to cause problems. My coolant temperatures were more-or-less unchanged from OEM as the OEM radiator is already quite good with a vented hood for improved airflow. If you're tracking in much higher temperatures, you might be better suited with separate dedicated units.

the stock radiator and dedicated jackson cooler would be a better option for you if you prefer separate units.

i personally run the dual oil cooler/radiator combo and have had zero issues with overheating with this unit, the stock fans are actually superior to many aftermarket slim fans.

the downside... yeah the unit is pricey, but like anything else... you get what you pay for.

I got my dual cooler from CSG recently. While I'd like to reuse the stock foam, I'm concerned it won't come off easily, or get damaged when I take it off, or maybe not adhere well to the new cooler. If I wanted to order foam before taking the car apart, what should I use? I know McMaster Carr is one place to find the stuff, but am unsure specifically which type to get. I don't know anything about thickness, width, adhesives, or fire resistance. Does anyone know precisely which product I should buy? A link would be super helpful. TIA.

Pat,

Mine came off without tearing. I would imagine you could just use double sided taper to put it back on.

I don't think it does anything other than keeping your engine bay a bit cleaner. It's unlikely it's helping keep temps down or "directing" any airflow. I've recently installed mine and I'm leaving it off.

Hey @Pat, you should compare prices to Misumi which I've found to be WAY cheaper on things than McMaster Carr

What temps are people seeing with this combo unit who are running FI. Just installed one with my sprintex 210 kit. In 80f temps just driving around town I am seeing after full warmup is 210-215 oil temps and 205 to 212ish coolant temps. This is mix between some decent pulls (lower gears) normal city driving and sitting at lights.

I figured out the issue. I think my belt was slipping cause the water pump not to run correctly. Put a new belt on and went for a drive and temps were barely peaking above 200f.

Quick question. If I were to install a standalone oil temperature gauge, does it matter which hole is used on the oil cooler adapter for the sensor? (Ie: is there a hot side or cold side on the sensor plug locations and would it effect any readings from the sensor) @Jackson Racing, @CSG Mike

This is one of the darn things where the theory makes sense, but the practical escapes me.

Thanks Y'all

Why, but why not just use OBD2?

Probably should have prefaced that the gauge installed was the Innovate dual function oil pressure and temp gauge, with the pressure function already being utilized.

I'm using a gauge and not OBDII with an app as I like a dedicated display for that information. I like canaries that allow me to immediately make safe the car if there is an issue. This is mostly for the pressure side of things though.
