I forgot how quiet these cars are.. Honestly... I feel like I have a form of PTSD from this stupid chirping.. I keep thinking I hear it and I go crazy for a heartbeat and start panicking... It's crazy. I hate the chirp so freaking much it really makes the car almost not enjoyable to drive which is saying a LOT because I love the car.

Sitting in it and starting to drive now though honestly.. It feels like a new car again.. which is great because I guess after 7500 miles and about 5500 miles of that being chirping ... I had gone to not really enjoy it and be more embarrassed about it anytime I drove it. I mean come on, this is a brand new car making such a racket!

So in short I'm super super happy to drive the car. I told my gf that I just wanted to drive around, something I haven't said since a week after I picked the car up in the first place! I really really hope it doesn't start back up again.
well better get your "welcome home" banners ready. Or better yet, prepare to throw those crickets a suprise party because in a few thousand miles....

I don't feel like it's a big deal either.

While I agree, I question whether or not you had them in full force. I completely understand why it would drive someone bonkers.

My only argument is I didn't buy a car to impress people with how it sounded while idling, that's a V8's job.

I daily drive an ae86 with stiff suspension accompanied with varies rattles, diff whine, hks exhaust etc so the crickets sound isn't that bad imo.

But i can understand that a noisy car will drive some people crazy, i don't mind tbh.

I just had a new pump installed today and everything is working perfectly. Now I am out trying to find a gas station that sales gas without ethanol. Is it law that a gas station has to post on their fuel pumps if the fuel contains ethanol?

13,000 miles here, and I've had em since mile 1. I'm debating on bringing it in, but I hear that they keep coming back..so I don't really see a point.

Track days, autoX, canyon runs, filling up where ever on 91 octane, 22,500 miles, no crickets

We have a guy here that only gets crickets on 91, no crickets on E85

No, I don't find it annoying, I eveentually learned to ignore it.
HOWEVER, the cricket sound sounds like it's metal against metal. While Toyota claim it does no harm, no one knows what will really happen in the long term.
So I get mine repalced just to have a record showing the HPFP of my car DID have problem, and in case many years down the road when the exact part breaks due to in seems issue.
I can at least argue that it's been a faulty part from the starts.

had crickets. went away once i started pumping shell 91. also propel e85 eliminated it too. some don't get the same results so YMMV.

Must be a real issue if Toyobaru is willing to change out all these HPFPs. Has there been a recall? Is the chirping a real mechanical issue or just an annoyance? Sorry if this has been already covered.
