Ahh, perhaps sticking a sign that says "FREE K-POP CONCERT" would do the trick.

I assume you're a 2020 Supra owner that signed that stupid compensation petition, right?
These statements indicate you are either high and/or ill-informed wrt a great many things like basic economics. That's quite the high bar to overcome to having a rational conversation and explains why you say and believe the things you do. I'm not surprised that they would come from you.

No, I don't own a Supra. Congrats on further making my point though.

...and if you like having the Supra, but not having it badged Supra, they make this stuff called dental floss. Check it out some time. Cheers.

Please do elaborate, then, on what I'm missing instead of simply insulting people as you do with many people on this board. Given your post history I'm afraid you seem to be incapable of doing so, let alone having a "rational conversion" as you put it.

We're adults here, so please have a rational conversion without resorting to insults - or am I speaking to a man-child who is too blinded by Toyota's apparent greatness to accept legitimate criticism about the Supra?

And do elaborate on your stance regarding several points of the Supra, including the interior - as I recall, you seem to detest the BMW interior, so I'm curious as to why you would make a big stink about others criticizing Toyota for using it instead of their own "beige" interior.

wha? the LFA was more of a "hey, look what we can do when we actually care!"

it doesn't represent the ethos of toyota. it represents what toyota could be if toyota wasn't so scared all the time to be anything but toyota.

Which is why I'm genuinely curious as to what I got wrong according to him, aside from admittedly misreading part of his post (though there are probably Supra owners who can afford the LFA).

I'm also curious as to why he thinks an 80K-90K Toyota-built Supra is way out of line considering that's around how much the current Toyota Land Cruiser costs now, and why the Nissan GT-R has being going on for 10 years despite increases in price.

anything nissan is a bad comparison, simply because literally everything they sell is OLD.

Fair point. I wonder when they'll come out with the next GT-R and Z iterations already.

Ultimately though, I wonder if Toyota would have sold more units if they actually built the majority of the Supra themselves. Even if it were priced higher, I'm sure Toyota would have had more success in the long run.

I wonder if nissan will still exist in 5 years

I'm definitely disappointed in the compromises made by farming out the platform work to bmw. I understand why, but i don't consider bmw to have any spectacular handling characteristics in most of their cars at any point in history.

which makes it feel like toyota picked bmw because another brand didn't want to go to prom with them. And it's hard to like a step child of an also-ran arrangement

It isn't a matter of "caring" and is not that they are "scared".
It is a matter of the LFA being a Supercar that was a short term project and was never intended for mass market or even limited sales. It was just an exercise in tech that resulted in a handful of actual cars. To even hint that it could ever have reached any form of mass production is very naïve and it has no place in the comparisons being made in this thread. Toyota is not now nor was when they built the LFA a Supercar manufacturer.

New GTR and Z - Never
Here we go again with the whole "sell more units " crap. They will sell just fine. Toyota isn't looking for Corolla sales numbers out of them.

Nissan won't last two more years at it's current rate. They are bleeding money faster than they can ever recover it.

I disagree. I think that BMW was their first and probably only choice for the Supra platform. It really is a better fit than people give credit for.

Oh I'm sure it will sell, and I never said that they would sell at Corolla levels. It's only something I wonder given the fair amount of people who've expressed their issues with the Supra not being a Toyota.

Expecting abraxis to yell at me about how I'm wrong again any second now...

The whole "they can sell more units" thing is one of my hot buttons. There are cars they want to sell piles of so they make piles of them. That is where all their money comes from.
There are cars that they only want to sell a few of so they only make a few. These ones don't make them cash but have value to the company in that they entice people to buy the ones they make piles of.

They would have accounted for the ones that won't buy because of the BMW thing. They are not nearly as stupid as people think.
