Today, my manager came to my room with anger and told that there is a very urgent and critical issue on a part of my code. I examined it and saw that my code was modified by him in 2018, in a stupid way; and this urgent issue was present by then. I invited him to my desk to show me, why there is a need for a modification like that? He couldn't tell why he did that change, and got very angry. Hit my personal mouse and broke it. It was an expensive gaming mouse. I feel depressed. I'm fed up with listening him wanting to kill all the people around us all the time. I used to be a positive person once. I was too close to quit today. I thinking of starting to look for another job, while working, for the first time in my life.

I'm very sorry. An abusive work environment is like a cancer. I have been through some very bad ones.

We all get that feeling some time in the job life; I have been in some big IT corporations for most of my career life and what seems to be no win situations seem to re-occur just when your morale is bouncing back. I can understand your dilemma Buddy! At one time I had an in-between job at a cheapo interact company, after 6 months I told the boss I’m leaving as the job is cutting into my cycling time… and the promised Wage increase was not happening. That did not go over well but I had a great summer! Found out 6 months later the co was bankrupt, and sorta saw that one coming. My last job at a CAN telecom co had some big changes coming that I did not want to face so I retired, well I dragged that on for a while … just so happen to have to tell a new boss that it was not because of him and he agreed that this was a good time to run... My worst cringe to stay on the job was working for 2 years with no boss to police the project managers & loss of 75% of co-workers that could support me. Go home have a beer or whatever, sleep on it, It may settle down to a more manageable stress.. |

I suggest you go to your bosses boss and explain his behavior to him/her and how it makes you feel. When and if you do that, I suggest you have your resignation letter written. PS - I'd also you ask your boss to replace your mouse - humfrz |

I'm in the dentist chair. They injected me and left. I guess we are waiting for the stuff to really "kick in".
Edit: It's working. I can't feel my chin.

At my last job, the first two or so years somebody would actively make jars of that stuff at home and bring it to the office to share. Since the office got daily delivery of some fresh bread, it made for a great spread for toast.
Damn I miss it. That stuff was delicious and I couldn’t ever have enough.

The rooster sauce is a great story. It was founded by a Vietnam war immigrant named David Tran. He came up with the name sriracha from the sauce he used to get in Sri Racha, Thailand, but never had the name copywrited. Started selling out of his car trunk in Chinatown Los Angeles. They have never advertised. Great stuff.

My manager had to reach out to the entire team today while on holiday in Germany just to say she didn't know anything helpful, ate we OK today... Because tomorrow odds are at least one of us will be without a job. Probably me. Because my wife is still searching without luck, since she lost her job of 18 years last June. Move on. Do your thing. Don't wait for the jerks. Don't let the scary stuff hold you back.

Guys, sorry..this is a fun place, maybe this not fits here, like crying like a baby, I couldn't help. My manager has problems, said once "when I was a kid, I felt lucky if I was only beaten up by chains that day" I feel pity for him. But living with this all the hate to everything everyday, makes me feel not good at all. He is also not nice to the big boss, who is I think afraid of him; since if he quits, no one ever could manage to understand the spagetti he had written. Big boss was a great programmer once. Built a company (previous one) from zero to one of the top ten IT firm of my country. And he is the only one who gave me a job ever. And I've been working in his firms since maybe 2000 (except my breaks for thesis and an unsuccessful attempt to build a firm with a friend). His last company that I'm working in now does not make any profit. So the big boss is also in a big stress. But he pays me maybe double a worker like me gets. I've talked to him once that I'm not happy doing the stuff we are doing. I did not mentioned about the manager; but everybody knows the problem about the manager. Our company is not big, but except 3 people, whole company changed at maybe 3-4 times in 3 years; due to stress. Anyway, big boss told me "I can do nothing about your unhappiness." So talking to him again would not make a positive progress. And preparing a resign letter; is a nightmare to me. Since I feel there is no way I could find a job that would fit my abilities (that I could be successful at), and pay me like this. A friend quit the firm told me, she was trying to have a baby for years, and got pregnant when she changed her job. I think, Boomerang told me man makes his own happiness. I will, some way I hope. And stop being a snowflake like this.
