I can tell you that our car has basically been a supercharged test and demo. mule since day 1 of ownership. From that point until now literally, dozens of people have driven it with no regard for clutch longevity (everyone has beaten the crap out of our car). Dozens of dyno pulls, Michael Essa drove it 10/10 at 86Fest, Kevin Byrd drove it 10/10 in the V3 video, + employees, + customers... We're at ~20,000 miles now and the stock clutch doesn't slip under acceleration, but it doesn't have the initial bite it used to. We were just talking about installing a HKS LA Clutch in it today actually.

Thanks Scott. Thats exactly the answer I was looking for. Im not one to skimp on half assing things when I start a project. Its just more less a way for me to plan my build right now, as I have already determined I want to use all HKS products. Ill be curious to find out more about the HKS clutch after you install it from a daily driving aspect.

This post says otherwise though? (although its the v2) http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...&postcount=155

Can I make more power than 310HP on e85? I'm really interested but I was hoping to make alittle bit over 350HP. Should I be going v2 instead? Assuming I have headers/intake/exhaust/injectors/fuelpump

The V3 has a revised inlet compared to the V2. Perhaps that's why?

According to the press release from HKS, the V3 makes more power than the V1 and V2. Therefore, I would say the answer is no. However, according to the press release I have, the V3 on 900cc injectors made 319whp/234wtq on E85, so it's a touch above 310whp. Maybe Scott can clarify.

Oh, and for those asking for an underhood picture, I hope this tickles your fancy

anyone knows the exact size of V3 pulley?
if restrictor not exist in V3, I think it should be larger than 100mm
and then maybe mid boost is lower than V2.

Absolutely. The supplied HKS E85 cal. is good for 319 whp. The 7040L s/c has the potential to push enough air for ~450 hp at the crank. If we figure ~20% for average drivetrain loss, the 7040L will max out around 360 whp. Of course this will always vary a little based on: your mods, your tune, your dyno, your air, your fuel, your elevation, etc.

Very astute! 110mm

So if you have the HKS exhaust components without the cat installed and v3 with the flash editor, is it pre programmed not to throw the CEL for emissions? I know on my S2000 the Mugen ECU did no throw a CEL with a test pipe or lack of air pump.

Thanks

For anyone attending 86Fest this weekend, I'll be in the HKS booth with two V3 equipped cars for everyone to check out. We'll have some other FA20 goodies on display, we'll be giving away HKS t-shirts, and we'll be conducting raffles for ride-alongs in the HKSUSA FR-S with Formula D driver Michael Essa.
Can you DM me with a price (incl shipping) to South Africa?

If someone went with the V3 and later down the road decided to use the HKS stroker kit could they upgrade pulleys and push more boost?

#33004-BT002 HKS Stainless Front Pipe

I've had my heart set on the Edelbrock kit, then saw this V3 - and started wondering if this was a better option... until I saw this post.
Adding all these parts to make the additional power means it is no longer a like-for-like comparison, and the Edelbrock comes out on top (for me anyway) again. From what I can tell it runs cooler too.

I still want the HKS exhaust because I like the sound, the EL headers and the weight savings! Just struggling to justify the price of it - so I'm looking around at other options that might be just as good.

That's a question better suited for your professional tuner and not a bunch of forum jockeys.

It could never be a fair comparison in the first place - roots type superchargers behave differently from centrifugal superchargers. Edelbrock will give you more low end torque whereas the HKS will yield more power in the top-end.

A more fair comparison against HKS would be JRSC/Kraftwerks, and for Edelbrock it would be against Cosworth/Harrop or even Sprintex in a way.
