I have heard of no-gasket setups working well. And yes, the surfaces would need to be machined flat, and to a very fine roughness. I think it could work. The flange on the manifold is 1/2 inch, and the turbo itself is not really prone to warpage. If I have to take it apart again ( most likely will ), it may be something I try.

I can confirm 100% that the mishimoto works with the AVO kit. I'm running it at the moment on my car.
I chose it over the Perrin due to the larger pipe diameter pipe (although I believe perrin now offers a three inch) and I've got several FI friends who have had issues with the Perrin not getting enough airflow through it. Not a problem so far with the Mishimoto.

I have another CAI setup which is the Kansai intake scoop, basically a carbon Fibre HKS snorkel, with additional pieces to divert air to the scoop for the main grill. I was running this with modified stock air box (the whole front behind the larger scoop is cut away) with a cosworth panel filter. This works extremly well, but I was having some issues with my intake pipe coming off the turbo. My mechanics thought it was because that setup was too rigid so we're trying the mishimoto to give a little more flex and fixes the problem (plus it gives more room for my oil cooler fittings).

I am considering the Mishimoto CAI to give room to my oil cooler lines too but I am running Robispec radiator.
I know I don't have much space and it will probably be a tight fit or I might need to modify the radiator support.

With the Mishimoto intake, does the mounting point interfere with the intercooler hardpipe in that area?

I kind of wonder if we will ever see a header upgrade with this kit, I do not know how they would make it fit, but things like flex joints would be nice..

I would also like to see 1/2 inch flanges that resist warping and better fit the available gaskets. IMHO, the port opening on the current flange is too large, making it troublesome to get a seal.

Yes and No. I did a quick fit to get it on before a retune. So it's not a precision fit at the moment just squeezed in. I have the whole lot pushed up tight to the left of the engine bay and I'm not using that mounting point at all so no clashes here. But can see that it would probably be a bit of an issue if I tried to make the mount work.

Personally I was just going to bend the bracket to suit, or even cut it off as the pipe is wedged in so tight that I don't think it's going to go anywhere. I'm changing out my intercooler some time this week so when I have the bumper off I'll play around with how it's sitting.

I'm planning to get this kit within the next year, but budget is the biggest thing for me. lol just gotta save up.

Plus, I want Drift Office to tune my car but I'm from Chicago... Do you guys E-Tune? :/ I've heard way too many horror stories from all the tuning places in Chicago.

Question:

Anyone running engine/tranny mounts with their AVO setup? I am tempted to try out the STI mounts - http://www.racecompengineering.com/i...-brz-fr-s.html

The concern is that if we put anything in that goes lower than stock - the overpipe is going to start rattling again. I would need something that does not go lower at all - I am looking for more clearance underneath rather than less.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks.

Here's a look under the hood of my BRZ

I am using the TRD uprated mounts, as well as the 3" AVO turbo outlet and over pipes. No rattling / contact issues at all

Can you give me a pointer to the mounts you chose? Thanks for the info!

I am using the Perrin mounts. The over-pipe (Private Label 2.5") contacted in one spot:

I had to "adjust" it some with a hammer to clearance it enough.
