Vland 4th Brake Light USDM rewire\repin
I had quite a difficult time finding any information at all about this newer (3\30\19) 4th brake light so I guess this thread can serve as an end all be all info dump.
https://ibb.co/JcYbKSd ***DISCLAIMER*** I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU MESS SOMETHING UP. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK. After ordering and installing the light it wasn't working properly even though I had all the wires plugged in. The reverse lights were fine. Only came on with reverse. I didn't touch those wires (aside from splicing into them for some light bars). The 4th brake light never lit. The red light bars wouldn't stay on solid and only blinked with the blinker. I wanted the brake light and the light bars to work as expected. I didn't care about the blinker functionality which is important for this as the wire is used. It would have been easy to actually repin the connections however it made more sense at the time to just splice. I will be going back in the future to properly repin the connectors. 1. Locate the 4 wires you need. -Green coming from the light (this should be its own separate wire) -Blue coming from the light (this is part of the harness, you will have to remove sheathing) -Yellow in the brake light pigtail -Red in the brake light pigtail 2. Take the Green wire from the light and splice it into the yellow wire on the pigtail 3. Take the Blue wire from the light and splice it into the red wire on the pigtail You should have something similar to this picture if you're splicing. https://ibb.co/xmCGzgd 4. tape and heat shrink all connections https://ibb.co/RvfF1Sc https://ibb.co/tKTsyzD https://ibb.co/P1v9cJ0 And that's that. Everything should work as expected. With some probing, you might be able to make it do other things but I'm satisfied with this setup. Feel free to post questions or if you find something else that works. Hope this helps someone and thanks for reading! And just in case anyone is wondering: Green - Lightbars Blue - 4th brake light Yellow - factory running lights Red - factory brake light |
