Remotely Open Windows with Keyfob
Thanks to @thorlius, the same guy who invented the now famous TapTurn, also sells a product that apparently is universal and should fit our cars.
Here is the link. AutoWindow Here is a link to buy: Order Page The basic one is the one that only lowers and rises windows. Anyone interested, thoughts, would you think it fits our cars?

Tap turn thread about that talks about this. But my comment from there...
Never had this on a vehicle, but am definitely GOING TO!. As far as his window modules, they look to integrate to the German cars only. Otherwise he utilizes DEI (known for owning Viper, Python, etc...) 530T window automation modules. This would require a bit more work than most people are probably comfortable with... I have installed these on all my vehicles to remotely roll up or down the windows, as well as using Field Disturbance, or Mass Sensors, to be able to arm the car with the windows down and roll them up when someone gets too close. |

Sorry, my intention was not to thread jack.. Window modules require connection in the door, at the motor. You need a healthy power feed for the module, and then run wiring into each door. The reason is that you have to catch the wiring between each switch and motor.

Could be a great excuse for a road trip! LMAO I'll be doing mine soon, just getting all my parts together. It will be tied into my aftermarket alarm/start. I haven't looked at the door wiring boots yet, so I'm not sure the difficulty there. Unfortunately many new cars use plugs at the door and the body, which requires drilling out pin locations to fish wiring through. I've only owned one car that needed that so far, and it was hell.

This was one of the best features on my Lexus. Great to get rid of the hot air before I get to the car.

Don't do it. I was going to get it done with my Viper 5904 system but they said if I install or they install it, it will blow the motor within a year. They even called scion.

Quick test is grab the window while it's rolling up with enough force to stop it mid tracks while holding the button up. It will take mighty force to stop it but will not break anything in doing so... Do this while never letting go of holding the up button. And see if the window continues to fight you going up, or gives up and goes slack - stops trying. Repeat this test using DEI one touch up feature, and it will go slack very quickly after window comes to rest. I don't know if the viper 5904 is the same as dei530T. |

I've been slacking on my install of my Alarm/RS combo, so I haven't installed it yet, and was contemplating it anyway. On my last car I had it set on "HIGH" and in the winter when the temps added challenge to the motors, my windows would sometimes not roll all the way up without a few presses of the switch :/ They absolutely will not cause a premature failure of your window motor, and will not cut off limbs if one is caught in the windows path hahahahaha. For reference, the 5904 is an alarm/keyless/remote start 2-way system from Viper. The 530t is the window automation module. For the record: I've done these on my last 3 vehicles, and several others.... I was an installer for a car audio shop for 8 years. |
