Figured I'd test this myself since I am considering a Perrin inlet hose to delete the noise tube altogether. Stopped by Lowe's on the way home, picked up the 7/8" nylon plugs for $1.39 + tax, and plugged it in by feel alone in a pitch black parking lot - the hole is really easy to find based on the above pictures.

The difference in sound is pretty ridiculous for a 7/8" hole. My HKS exhaust and the motor are no longer overwhelmed by the high pitch of the intake and the car gives off a much deeper tone inside the cabin.

Thanks! car sounds much better now. Always seemed a little off or unreal... probably because the tone change above a certain point. It just wasn't consistent.

This worked great!

Anyone in Canada had any luck finding these? Neither home depot or lowes up here has them.

Conversely, any american friends have a spare one they feel like shipping up here? If so, name your price including cheap shipping.

Find the cheapest option of shipping from 07716 in the U.S. and I'll send you the spare I have that way, just send me a PM.

FYI for those looking to get these at Lowe's, they're located in the hardware section. You'll see a series of drawers in the same aisle as the nuts/bolts.

Hope this helps, I spent over half an hour looking mostly in electrical .

If you look at the picture for the plastic bag, it has in the bottom right hand-side corner a number H #881269, that is the drawer number where you can find the item at Lowe's.

Alternatively, you can ask any of the Low'e employees for Hillman # 8 section - that is all it takes.

I saved you one half hour of your busy life - did I?

Thanks to the OP for this simple fix...I can't believe the difference in somthing so simple!

I found some that fit perfectly at Canadian Tire. They were in the car section under "Panel Trim Fasteners" DORMAN is the name brand and the part number was 45092 and says "GM" in a yellow package.

I think it actually says "881289", but yeah, otherwise, what Zagmeister said.

Ask a Lowe's employee? In a perfect world, sure. Unfortunately they had no idea. They told me they didn't think they carried it until I showed them the product ID on their website. By the end I had two of them searching with me.

I ended up using a silver 3/4" plug. Did the job. I was surprised at the difference it makes. Anybody with some free time and an extra $1 or $2 should take the time to do this. My girlfriend no longer thinks I'm flooring it away from every stop when I'm talking to her over the bluetooth built into the car.

Awesome, thanks for the heads up on the Canadian sources! I'll have to grab one when I have a spare hour to kill.

Installed the plug from lowes tonight (thanks for the picture!). Took 30 seconds. Cabin sounds is better..less overall noise and the motor sound is "even" instead of coming mainly from the passenger side. Much better! (shame they even spent time & money putting this sound tube in)
