In fact it is below the average.

"The average new vehicle transaction price for 2016 will hit a record $34,077, according to research from Edmunds. That's 2.7 percent higher than 2015, and 12.6 percent higher than it was in 2011, which, yes, is already five years ago. Next year, Edmunds expects that price to jump even higher, to about $35,000."

So why didn't your broke ass just buy a Civic or Fit then?

Jesus, when I read this I thought you were referring to my comment, then I read the other posts after mine. I meant it as a "buying a new car at 19" is hopefully not something you do on a whim.

Yep that whole 5 years makes a big difference.
Funny the 24 and 25 year olds are the ones that seem to feel the most hard done by in this thread.

Yet you put forth the most effort and time to respond. You should probably take a break from the forums, instead of being a memelord all day.

It's still an expensive car and you just can't understand that.

Ahhh there it is the good old reference to forum time instead of the point.

Fact - $30K for a car is below the average price for a new car.

Its really not an expensive car. Maybe relatively for you, if you have a low salary.

I don't post much.

BUT, this forum is going down the drain because of a**hats "know-it-all" like you guys...

Not many people can afford a 30 000$ car at this age, congrats on the OP. From a 19 years old perspective, IT IS an expensive car.

Stop arguing and playing with words, we all know you're the champ (s)...

New/Used combined, pretty sure the average is way below that of an 86... Many buy used, get out of your bubble.

Some people just should get a life...

Exactly! Go over to a Corvette forum and see how many people under 40 you can find.

Nothing wrong with that.
It reminds me of my late grandfather telling me if you want that new 1981 Toyota SR5 liftback then go to work and buy it yourself. Of course I continued to drive my old 1968 Dodge Dart.

To OP congrats on the car! Good job in earning your wages and paying for the car loan on your own. Have fun and be safe driving it!

More than you'd think I bet. 78 of them under $30,000 within 100km of me. Can get into a 2005 Vette for 30k.

@yanfoo It's not about being a know-it-all. It's about understanding the world doesn't have the same perception of what's expensive. There are plenty of other cars I'd like to get into, but can't because they're too expensive for me. Doesn't mean that @Tcoat or @humfrz would agree with me that those cars are expensive, since I know @Tcoat is looking at Jaguar F-Types. Hell, even for me, when I bought this car, it was a bit more than I wanted to spend, but since then, I've received one raise that was 15% of my yearly salary in 2015, then a raise that was 12% this past year. My perception has changed drastically since buying my FRS in December 2014.

That I understand...

I'm talking about the MAJORITY of people. The majority is NOT looking at F-Types but more at Hyundais & Kias...

Your situation isn't the same, I get it, but the average salary income around the world isn't ok with BMWs and such.

Just take a look when driving around, I see a lot more used POS than cars over 30 000$. And the other thing is most of these are leased, so no, not many people can afford a new one in this price range.
