Don't get your hopes up either way: Toyota has already stated that they do not plan to bring either the convertible nor their FI models to America, citing market research that shows we would not buy them if they did.

There's a thread on here somewhere about it.

It actually looks really good, but I bet it's going to screw up the car's weight balance, aero, and driving dynamics.

Not bad even though I'm not a fan of convertibles. I really hope this paves the way for a hatch version.

i'll take it if they offer an optional 1-piece removable hardtop that replicates the original fr-s roof & rear window.

sorry but i can't stand the look of a closed soft-top convertibles.

About messing up the car's handling, I wonder why someone hasn't tried bringing back T-tops. Couldn't the bar through the middle be used to make up for some of the rigidity lost? This is just a thought coming from someone who isn't an engineer or anything but could it work? Feel free to tell me why no one has done this because I can't figure out why not.

Not too long ago I was considering buying a Corvette and had spent quite a bit of time snooping on their forum. I was always reading complaints/comments about problems with rattle/squeaking panels in their T tops. I get the idea that could be one of the draw backs to designing and marketing T tops.

Benefits aside, t-tops are damn cool. So are Targa tops imo.

Yes but is that a problem with the T-top itself or an error in the implementation? Could modern technology produce a better T-top?

i find that strange. i think there's a bigger market for convertibles in the U.S. than in other countries.

because t-tops and targas are a PITB to put on and take off. on top of that, it takes mega trunk space to store those removable panels. they're impractical and that's why car manufacturers don't bother with them anymore.

I dunno, my '73 vette stingray has pretty easily removed and stored T-top covers.
