TOMEI UEL vs. EL headers (w/stage 2 OTS tune)

I'm still up in the air on which type of header to purchase. I do love the boxer sound with the UEL and I like the increased torque at low end, but is the performance increase of the EL header combined with the Stage 2 tune (or even the stage 2 E85 tune) that much better than the UEL with the same corresponding tune? Does the combination of that tune and the EL header give you enough added low end torque to be happy without having to get the UEL? I'm talking strictly performance here......forget the sound difference. Please help me here , lol

Considering you'll be using the OFT tunes, I'm pretty sure the UEL will give you the better low end torque, minimized/eliminated torque dip, and peak horsepower. At least that's what the guys at Vishnu say when you use the OpenFlash header. Tomei's doesn't look too different so I'd say the UEL for best performance and EL only if you want the EL sound (which I do lol).

It's so minimal in terms of the differences that I would say to just get whichever one you think sounds better. I had 10 years of the boxer rumble and liked the sound of EL better so that's what I bought. Happy with my purchase and that's what really matters in the end.

There is still no dyno's proven to make power that differs to be biased each way EL or UEL to produce more power. In which case go with the one you like the best and pr can get the best deal on.

The dyno results from tomei literally showed zero max hp (<1 hp) gain with the UEL vs about 7 whp with the EL. So there is a difference, but I would like to see tuned dyno results

I'm using a borla uel and oft stage 2. Love the grunt it gives the car. Just added Crawford bpb yesterday, again more grunt. I liked the uel torque because it's more applicable where I drive the car mostly 2.5k - 5k

I think it's just the fact that these headers (el or uel) are catless. Although the open flash team did mention they were able to get the best results with their uel open flash header. However I'm thinking the difference between catless el vs uel is minimal

I have the el and peak power is pretty good it made 191.6whp on 92octane but it did almost nothing to improve my torque dip, with the tune the dip is still there but just in a smaller rpm range.I've heard the uel does a much better job getting rid of the torque dip.hopefully going to try again with a catless frontpipe next time and see how the numbers change

What were your baseline numbers? Do you have a graph to show the curve? The header you have is on the top of my list, but I kinda want to get more 3rd party results before ordering

these numbers might be improved upon with another tuning session but right now this is what im working with with Tomei el header,Perrin overpipe,Invidia catted frontpipe, and Injen SES catback

Ouch that torque dip is ugly with the Tomei EL... Other EL headers pretty much eliminate the dip.. UEL is better for the dip, but most EL's aren't this bad

are you looking at 3rd party results or the manufacturer's?
