How can I fix this!? - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

So, when entering my apartment there is a gate with security system that requires a password input. As many of you know the FR-S rides very low.... so usually I have to park my car and get out and push the password. Its been a couple weeks since I've had my car now so its never usually a problem....

Till today. I got out of my car, and apparently I did pull my e-brake all the way. Once I got out of my car and opened my door to push in my code the car began rolling back. AND IT FUCKED UP MY DOOR. Yes I know, it was a simple stupid mistake.

Is there anything I can do about this?

What are my best options?

Body shop if they can salvage the door then repaint ... Did it mess with the alignment of the door?

No it did not... I just didnt wanna come out $500 deductible for this stupid accident!

I don't think you have much choice here. Could be worse, I watched a guy destroy his door while backing into a garage with the door open so he could see where he was going. Didn't dawn on him what he was doing until it was too late.

Take it in to get a quote first. Maybe it'll be less than your deductible?

The only options you have is a pair of pliers with touch-up paint or a body shop. It depends on how nice you want it to look. I'd go to the body shop.

There's no "fixing" that since the paint is cracked. A body shop may be able to straighten it out and then repaint it without needing to buy a door skin. Odds are you'll be under the $500 deductible.

That sucks btw. I had a similar thing happen in my tight garage on my old car but was able to easily cover it with door edge guard.

I had the exact same damage on my passenger side door after it was blown wide open by crazy wind, edge bent and 4 inch crack in the paint. Went to a few body shops and all of them told me blending the pearl white paint would cost around a grand. I ended up finding a place that did it for half of that and came out looking new. You should be able to find it cheaper with the red though.

Sounds like you either need to fix your e-brake, or type the correct story

Duct tape, hammer, and some fire. Maybe a little bit of paint too.

After that it'll buff right out.

I've never actually done any type of body work ever. Is there a DIY guide on doing something like this? I looked all over but I have no idea where to start!

No, there's no DIY on metal work. There's more to it than you can imagine. If the average man, even the above average man, who had never done any metal work tried to repair that they would only make it worse.
