Looking even better every snippet of information you figure us over the pond

Still drooling over yesterday's photos of the interior with the red seats lovely

0-60 in 6/7 seconds is up to my Impreza standards and similar to the now gone 350z
Interesting to know how it will go in the wet

It has a broad power curve - it revs to 7500 but there’s no desperate need to wind it that far past the mid-range.

this statement, along with the C&D article where he states the power peak feels like 6500, and along with the torque peak estimate of 170 ft lbs @ 4000 rpm, make me believe this car will have strong mid range and not too much up top.

2800 is pretty light now a days unless you're talking about Hybrids or city cars. With all the saftey and emissions equipment cars need to have, it's no wonder.

Check out this list from Motortrend and their top 11 lightest production cars they've tested this year:

1) Mazda2

Curb weight: 2269 pounds
2) Honda CR-Z

Curb weight: 2544 pounds

3) Ford Fiesta SES

Curb weight: 2552 pounds

4) Hyundai Elantra GLS

Curb weight: 2747 pounds

5) Nissan Juke SV

Curb weight: 2932 pounds

6) Scion tC
Curb weight: 3093 pounds

7) Volkswagen Jetta

Curb weights: 3141 pounds (SEL), 3179 pounds (TDI)

9) Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Carbon Limited Edition

Curb weight: 3207 pounds

10) Chevrolet Cruze LTZ RS

Curb weight: 3208 pounds
0-60 mph: 9.0 seconds

11) Mini Cooper S Countryman ALL4

Curb weight: 3255 pounds

If the 2850lbs is accurate, it puts the FT square in 5th place on this list. That's pretty damn light for a 2+2 seater. NONE of the four lighter cars on this list would compare to the FT as far as performance goes, not even the CRZ. Especially since the CRZ only sits TWO while the FT will sit a couple of small adults or children. I don't think 2800lbs is bad and how can you compare it to a two seat roadster??

because that roadster is physically similar in size, has a 4 cyl engine, and is RWD. they are very, very close. even the grand touring automatic with PRHT miata is barely over 2600 lbs. so im wondering what exactly is adding all that weight?

my optimistic side is telling me they are over estimating the weight. just like they seem to be overestimating the tq (170 ft lbs).

my pessimistic side? this car is an utter failure...

2800lbs wet actually isnt that bad, actually getting 2800lbs these days is still pretty impressive for a fully loaded vehicle, even my rx7 was around that weight with a 200hp turbo engine.

yes but i look at it like this: if the miata can do it, why not the FT??? sure maybe it wont be as light weight, but over 200 lbs more? it just doesnt make sense. supposedly their goal was 1150 kg and they miss the mark by 100 kg?

Yes we can expect to pay in Ģ what you pay in dollars making a car half again as expensive for us. Now euro is in bits the rest of Europe get the good news too so stop whining about your prices.

thank you but as long as it is not test driven by myself I donīt give a heck about what they say.

Many of you comparing the ft 86 to M3, supras and other 300+ hp cars but if it donīt reach my exceptions comparing to the MR2 NA it will not be a replacement for me, then itīs only going to be a DD for me, maybe a teaching vehicle for drifting on holiday! Maybe I have too much expections for the ft but I donīt think that fr>mr even with more hp. The only plus is the better mpg at the moment for me! Sorry TOYOTA, somehow!
