I think some people need a reality check...

This is a $25,000 car. In today's marketplace, that's 'bargain basement'. Too many people are complaining about poor quality stereo, no steering wheel controls, poor visibility, and other bullshit 'issues'. I think many of them would be better off selling their FR-S/BRZ and buying something that has better ergonomics and accouterments, like maybe a mini-van?

Seriously, many of you don't realize what a great package deal this vehicle is. I've owned MANY cars and unless something major pops up repeatedly on cars across the world like engine fires, crankshafts cracking in half, wheels falling off, etc., it's NOT a big deal at this price point. Rattles in the dashboard, speaker covers that don't stay attached, and other trivial stuff is just going to piss off the dealerships when people keep bugging them about it and take away their time and resources to deal with real problems. This car is NOT perfect. Little flaws like these should be taken care of by the owners.

If you want a top quality vehicle, spend the money and buy a $50,000+ priced car. This car was a vision and concessions were made to achieve the vision and still make it affordable. Yes, Toyota/Subaru probably pulled existing stuff off the shelf and fitted it to the car. Yes, they probably scrimped a little on the selection of materials to use. That's called cost-cutting measures. If they would have spent more on development, the car would have been priced significantly higher.

Legitimate problems should be addressed (taillight moisture, idling issues) but this 'the sky is falling' mentality because the driver can hear the differential whine at 85 mph really needs to be reeled in. Just my opinion.

I've already adressed this on other threads about issues. The car is a mass produced track car that is mean to be lightweight and cheap.

Of coarse you're not going to get the best materials. When I hear mechanical problems (other than chirping which is due to the DI as I've heard) like you mentioned, then we should be concerned.

And let me tell you, even 50g+ cars aren't perfect. Although you can see them as "complaining," there are definitely a room for improvements that aftermarkets can take advantage of.

Sometimes, you think it's a major design flaw but it can be fixed within minutes with a simple tool. I see the importance of people reporting major/minor problems for future FRS/BRZ owners and possibly solutions to the problem.

You think it is very trivial but I found several times that these "reports" on forums ended up saving me hundreds/thousands of repair bills (50g+ cars obviously). If you don't like what you are reading, just move on IMO. No need to break your balls over other people's problems.

As a potential owner, it is good for me to get to know the good w/ the bad. I'm not going to not buy this car b/c of the small things, but I am hoping these reports help the manufacturers address them as time moves on.

To help put things in perspective:

The average purchase price of a car these days is $31K! The highest trim FT is still below the average cost of a car these days, and it's one of the best handling cars out there.

Really? Is it that high now? That's pretty crazy.

for perspective I purchased my RX8 for $25k almost nine years ago. When you consider inflation, and consider how similar the FR-S/BRZ is to the RX8, its a rather impressive feat.

I'm not sure you could ever get a car that isn't produced at the same volume as a corolla or civic to cost less than $22k these days. Especially one made in Japan.

No, it's not trivial stuff for any price point. When costs are cut, I expect to lose out on features like navigation and leather. But the features and components that ARE installed should be rock-solid and reliable.

I think a lot of people expected since it was a Toyota/Subaru product that it should be perfect. People have a misconception that Japanese car manufacturers especially Toyota is by far the most quality oriented automaker on the planet so I think that's one of the reason these guys are angry.

I find it kind of funny that people want BMW and Mercedes level interiors but last I checked, neither BMW or Merc make a car this inexpensive......

Said it before, saying it again: who cares what other people think/are doing? As long as you are happy with the car/your purchase, great!

Not sure why you even care, really.

Why you raging over what others think? I did not by this car because of the interior , heck it sucks .. But if anyone knows anything about cars they will know there ain't another car under 50 that will drive like it , correct me if I'm wrong .
Back on topic, most cars nowadays sell you their "gadgets" heck that's what the masses want, most drivers don't care about the cars performance or anything, they just have money.
- met a guy at the neighborhood Shell with a brand new M3 , I started talking him, besides the HP rating and the hard top convertible he didn't know jack all about the car. He started showing me the convertible and all the fancy buttons.
