The guy in this vid doing the test, probably is using a wheel/pedal setup. I'd put weight into it for same reasons as mentioned. PD and Kaz are very particular about the accuracy of GT5.

Aside from the fact that the game does not compensate for clutch engagement. If the BRZ had a true sequential transmission then maybe. But alas, it does not.

What do you mean does not compensate for clutch engagement? There are full working clutch and wheel setups that GT5 recognizes and it recognizes the clutch as doing a Heel-toe-downshift while racing changes the characteristics of the driving like it would IRL.

He may, or may not be using such a system. He could be using the Logitech setup, we just do not know. I still think 6.1 is pretty damn optimistic and at the end of the day it is a video game. One way or the other we will know what the facts are soon enough.

^It is a video game that it is feverishly based on facts and specifications.

But that is not what I was responding too (whether or not he was using a clutch setup), just FYI'ing that the game supports clutch engagement. It's pretty accurate for sure. We shouldn't be surprised if it runs 6.1. The Prius tires on it are there for cornering fun, not straight line acceleration. So getting just a slightly grippier tire IRL would yield significant results.

Again though...GT5 Datalogged the FR-S/GT86, I'm sure they did more than just laps around a track and then plugged it into the Ghost lap for the game. They do a very in depth test with cars to model them accurately. Also their Tracks are scary accurate.

Toyota and Sony captured data to make this car as accurrate as possible.

Ironically that particular spot in Circuit de Sarthe he used to test the 0-60 is a downhill section...

How is the accuracy of this video game for other cars' acceleration times? If it's reasonably accurate consistent with real world numbers, then this number should be close enough.

I did about 20 runs on SS7 on pretty much flat ground with the 86 with a stop watch.

6.8 seconds came up pretty much 80% of the time.

Don't think 6.1 is realistic at all.

Edit: This is for 0-100 km/hr times (easier to check as you bounce off rev limiter at 99 to 100 km/hr in second gear. So 0-62 mph.

Bummer news about the downhill issue, I thought that seemed great! 6.8 might be more realistic unfortunately; tires should shave that time drastically I hope.

I'm not sure how much emphasis can be placed in a video game... I'd honestly prefer real world numbers rather then getting my hopes up

It's really easy to get caught up in 0-60 times, and while I find this a cool exercise in trying to find out what the actual time is, all I know for certain is that it will be more than enough power for me on a daily basis.

It's significantly faster than my daily driven Civic SI and I still have fun in that.

In any case, I'm sure the car will hit mid to low 6's...

Honestly, I'll be fine with low 7s.

Rating this car in 0-60 is pointless to me.

It's a high-revving engine, so once it picks up speed halfway through the RPMs it doesn't matter anymore. Lower RPM speed is useless, but that is what 0-60 times measure.

40-100 would be a nicer number - hasn't anyone come up with a new rolling start acceleration yet?
