supposedly the ECU reflash from the dealership will fix it. When I took my brz in they wouldn't reflash the ecu unless the CEL came up, which never happened. Now that im on stage 2 OFT I haven't had the problem since because Shiv said applied the update for the RPM drop as well.

Nope, the reason why the flash "fixed" it is because it fixes the RPM from dipping so low during idle, and indirectly "fixing" the LED blinking.

As some of you may know, any LED component require very little power to operate them, and without the proper capacitors, they become very sensitive and fluctuate (blink) because of the idle dip causing the car to almost stall out (alternator stop for a split second, restriction of the voltage current).

My point is, there is no REAL fix until Subaru add a capacitor for those DRL LED.

Cool

Is there any solution to enable the LED DRL to stay on with the EBRAKE engaged?

.. any chance you can make some headway on this and see how feasible it would be to replace these caps with higher quality ones?

This happens to me on the odd day. Whenever I see reflection of my car in traffic while behind someone. Blinks off and on.

I contacted Toyota HQ and opened a case with them, if I can get a real solution I will post the results. Since it seems to effect even he non LED FR-S as ray_viva posted.

If anyone else has already gone through this process let me know. I did let them know about the capacitor DaJo mentioned.

Yeah this too has happened to me during idle coming to a stop in traffic. It cuts off for a split second before coming back on. Will be keeping my eye on this thread for updates.

Heard back from Toyota and they are logging the incident and passing it on, but without a current TSB fix on it they don't have a solution. Basically I need to take it in sometime and replicate it and then they will get the regional guy involved, from there it goes higher up into Toyota.

The more people that call or email Toyota the better chance they realize it is not a isolated incident. However not that help with the full pump issue that is more widely noted.

I go in around July for an oil change, I will try and get a little further then, and update with any new info, if any.

Hmm, that's odd. I've never noticed this, but it's rare that I can see my own DRLs when behind the wheel. I have a '14 manual BRZ, I assume it has the updated ECU flash since it's a 2014,and I don't have idle dip issues

However, in my car, the DRLs stay on no matter if I'm in gear, or neutral. The only time the DRLs shut off is if the ebrake is pulled, or the headlights are on. (or car shut off)

I'll have to keep a closer eye on my DRLs as I'm coming to a stop.

Went into the Toyota dealership today for my 15 month maintenance, and to have the LED lights checked out. Pretty much what I thought would happen, they just said "If all electrical loads are on then it is possible for the system to be stressed and a slight flickering headlight is the result." I told the service guy I would need to talk to the Tech to explain it in more detail, but that did not happen, and the Tech guy did not fully understand the issue, since the engine dips below 500 RPM with no additional electrical loads, it seems like they did not fully understand the issue. Even if they did understand what was going on, they would not be able to fix it.

Also I asked them to check out the vibration from the side speaker during some bass. they said it was because I had the music up too loud and I should turn down the bass. (also if I could have talked to the tech I could have explained that is not when it is happening, it is on low-med level.

They also tried to tell me it was not time for my 2nd oil change. My milage is only 8,181, but that is for 15 months. So when Toyota told me to have the dealership look at it again I had little faith that anything would be resolved. If you want something fixed you have to do it yourself.
