another noob question:

The BRZ uses the camlock piece, but does the FR-S use it as well? The FR-S is a wedge mount correct?

If the FR-S is a wedgemount, the mirror can be used

Pretty sure both are button mounts. You can confirm by asking other FR-S owners who have taken off their mirror (or just look at yours, it's really easy if you follow what's been posted in the DIY section). The part number is SU003-03183 with "SU" denoting a Subaru part in the Toyota parts database.

You are now able to order these through your favorite online Toyota parts dealers (I've used partznet.com and toyotapartszone.com in the past) using that part number. Around $100 + shipping, in stock in the USA!

Already received my mirror from amazon today. The mounts are indeed different as the pictures depicted. The mirror does look beautiful in person and I've decided to just keep it. The adapter mount can be bought from brandmotion's website for about $30. Anyone who does decide to buy from their site, there's a 20% off coupon that basically covers shipping. Coupon code is "RVS20OFF" for anyone interested.

Once you get everything together let us know/take pictures of how it looks. I want the mount as small as possible, so I'm curious how much bulk the adapter adds.

So really with the adapter bracket it is $110 for this mirror compared to $120 for the JDM. Not knocking this one but I'll probably stick with the JDM and not worry about the bracket. Still a good find though.

Pretty much. Also, the frameless mirror is now being stocked and available in the US for a faster turnaround time as I posted a few posts up:

And you can probably order through your local dealer (I believe because the 10 Series FR-S comes with it as @mush and @Dragon said) but dealers with online parts sites are usually cheaper.

Got mine:

Ok. Received the adapter and installed everything in a few minutes. The adapter was heavier than I thought it would be but is very sturdy. It adds a bit of bulk but its really nothing noticeable when you're sitting in the drivers seat. I can only see a sliver of the base when sitting behind the wheel. And as requested. The pics! I put electrical tape on the back that sits against the window cause I didn't like the idea of the hard base in contact with the windshield, hence the jagged looking edges

All together, my total came out to about $90 ($58 shipped for the mirror off amazon and $31 shipped for the base from brand motions website). A bit of savings over ordering the JDM/10 series mirror. So the trade off is just whether you want the smaller base by going with the OEM route or saving about $20 by piecing it together.

EDIT: Sorry about the double pics, tapatalk decided to add them to the end of the post, no idea how to alter it.
EDIT EDIT: Nevermind, editing it on my computer fixed it

I searched google for the part number and did see the $100 prices, but after shipping and tax in California it comes close to $130. A lot of the sites that sell for really cheap usually jack up the price of shipping. This is just another option that some people can go with, it was just the cheaper option for me

I don't blame you on the cheaper price. I ended up selling the brandmotion one to a friend because I know the extra mount bulk would bother me. It is the cheaper option since the JDM plug n play one will be around $130 no matter where you get it from.
