A lot of them will just throw out shovelware or rehash the same game every year without making significant changes because they know people will buy it. Remember all the Guitar Hero games? People stopped buying them because it was the same thing year after year. Now production of those games is halted and who knows if we'll ever see one again. But there are a lot of people loyal to a certain game or franchise and they'll buy that game day one. Some people might be a bit iffy, so they'll pick it up at Gamestop a week later for five bucks less. I'm not saying people shouldn't be able to sell their stuff, but a used game sale is actually lost revenue for the developers and publishers.

There are many reasons that games don't perform well though, and a lot of the time quality isn't one of them. They could be released on the same day or a near window of another AAA well-known hit and get swept under the rug. They might not be marketed well so people don't know what's coming out, because all they see is the millions of dollars Activision has dumped into CoD ads. Some games do perform great, but the company gets shut down because the parent company or publisher decides they want to restructure. They own the IP now, so fuck the people that worked on the last one, we can get a new team together and save some cash. The game industry can be a dirty rotten place.

Bizarre Creations, THQ, Iron Lore, Kaos Studios, etc.. All gone the way of the dodo now.

Reminds me of when I read about Okami winning a bunch of Game of the Year titles at the same time that their dev team (Clover Studios) was being shut down from poor sales. Marketing is king. Quality products will give sustainability, but you don't build a successful business on products alone, you NEED a strong marketing campaign. Just look at what Steve Jobs did with Apple. He is the benchmark for success in marketing. His products are household names despite often being less powerful, less feature-packed, more restricted versions of other products available.

So don't get banned. It's really not that hard. The only people I've ever heard of getting banned are those who hack systems and pirate games. It happened to a friend of a friend who had multiple accounts and felt it best he not buy his 360 games.

When you trade in a game before a month of ownership you get like $20-$30 trade in. I know people that do it religiously as they beat a game in 2-10 days of owning it.

Those people might be better served by services like gamefly instead of taking a 50-60% value drop on every title.

Btw, i dont care how you all think about the gaming from xbox system.

I take an example here. I have a best friend, and i can share my game with him for free. I can buy forza downloaded for 40 bucks for an example, instead of 60 bucks from a disc in any store. I then can share it to my best friend, and each of us only pay 20 bucks. Own it for life together with any upgrades.

I will always be glad to pay 80% of a retailed bluray price, then split in half with my best friend .

Number one, a download version of a game is still going to be $60 and that download version of the game won't be able to be shared. Also if you buy a disc version and share it they're not going to let you use it from your install and from the disc at a friend's at the same time.

Either way I game pretty exclusively on PC but if i ever buy a console this generation it will be a PS4.

As far as I know, any shared game can be used by anyone in your Family list, a special separate list of 10 people that you can share games and content with. Lots of misinformation around about sharing games on the XBO. If it's not an official Xbox press release or direct statement, take it with a grain of salt. Journalists love to make things up or, more accurately, draw their own conclusions from the loose bits of information they have. Kotaku practically wrote the book on it for gaming "news."
