P0016 fixable without new ECU?

My first real CEL, first one was for loose gas cap.

I have read the TSB for this and it says a new ECU may be required. Just curious for those that have had this did you need a new ecu?

Reason I am asking is I am tuned/turbod and don't really want to have to get a new ecu and thus ECUtek licenses for my car.

What did you end up doing? I'm just curious, since you're FI now. I've supercharged my car, and am always worried about hitting this again. I've had similar errors on 3 separate occasions before I went FI. I had cam gears replaced, 3 new ECUs and several flashes/updates.

Do you know what ECU you're running? Here's the latest one I'm running (812):

I've just got PO016 and C1201
Dealer has checked cam gears, VVT, oil pressure valve and diagnostics on the ECU, everything is 100%
Going to change oil and check if code comes back on.

Any updates on what you did to resolve your personal P0016 codes? I have had this as well for a long time. I had my tuner remove the code and eventually I need to address the real problem.

I'm dealing with this issue now. I'm patiently waiting for a new ecu at this stage of the repairs...the damn thing is backordered and I'm getting sick and tired of clearing the code and driving in limp mode. They're gonna crack open the cam assembly this time and replace the ecu so it should fix the problem this time.

I had the current ecu updated and the cam sensors swapped and it did nothing.

I had this issue recently on my 2013 BRZ, and the dealer ended up replacing both the cam sprocket and ECU. So far so good.

Same for me. I had a P0016 and did the hot oil flush and software update recommended in the TSB and no luck. Then they replaced the ECU last month and so far so good. I currently have 56k miles on my 2013....
