Probably asked before...

100 octane too much for the CARB tune?

I think there is a station around the corner from me...

Huh, thought it was someone asking for ROI octane rating, but in your case, it might be possible.

I'd say one thing: make sure to tune to fuel you can easily access.

Too much octane? doesn't exist. It will burn and it will work fine. you just might not be taking full advantage of the additional octane with the carb tune, but that won't cause any problems.

The ECU is constantly adapting to current conditions will adapt to 100 octane. Will you get absolutely every last horsepower? No. Will you get a noticeable gain while the 100 octane is in the tank? Absolutely.

And by constantly, I mean so quickly, that by the time you do a 2nd WOT pull, you'll already have substantially more power.

263 93 octane on a mustang dyno?

F*cking california. We get the piss gas, and we're supposed to bend over and take all this CARB crap (not to mention all the other shitty laws). At least we have decent weather

That being said, that means there should be some power left on the table for those of us thinking of going e85 (and custom tune of course).

Better fuel is good. Filling up with $9/gal fuel every day sounds painful though.

We recommend 100 octane fuel for any track outings, stock or supercharged. The additive package in 100 octane fuel is designed for the sustained abuse on track. As @CSG Mike said, the car will be much happier. So yes, it is compatible.

There's a lot of power available with a good tune. Even on 91 piss gas.

Requires a header, though.

On the CARB tune on Cali 91 gas - a ft86 w/ a jr supercharger in a straight line is as fast as [insert car here]

faster/slower than a m3? sti? 370z?

Sorry I know this seems kind of vague and possibly loaded and obv I'm not trying to drag race, but a majority of my driving is done on freeway - and I'm a little tired of downshifting to pass someone on the free way.

Assuming cars are stock...

STI: yes
350Z: Yes (all variations)
370Z: even
e9x M3: no

Objectively: This before/after plot will inform of downshifting requirements.

Chose your 'freeway' rpm....compare before and after HP/TQ when you ask for passing power.
