This was going to be my next suggestion. The guy that did my opticoat sent me a list of products to maintain the car and IronX was one on the list for pulling up the iron dust and shit off the paint. If that is what you actually have I could see where a claybar won't pull it up but the ironX will. IronX actually chemically reacts with the iron in your paint and releases it, allowing you to wash it off. A claybar is going to have a hard time pulling something off the paint that isn't just adhered to it but actually embedded in it.

If they are iron filings you can use IronX to chemically disolve them. DetailedImage.com sells this stuff.

It is very hard to tell from your photo, based on what you tried this is my guess.

Cheers,
GREG

Dealerships are very knowledgeable of this and have a chemical wash they can use to remove it. The wash does not harm the paint of any exposed parts.
I think almost definitely that what people on this thread and myself have is from some kind of bug or animal. I found some fresh and wet on my hood today, so definitely not rail dust.

I had the exact same thing. Someone recommended ironX and I gave it a try. It worked pretty good actually! It smells like holy hell but definitely got all those damn oxidation spots out.

Ironx works great. You have to kinda rub it in with a soft paintbrush. Obviously no so hard you scratch the paint. But yeah ironx got rid of 99% of those stupid yellow oxidation marks. But like I said it smells like purple death so don't do it in a confined spot

Cameronghanson,

I'm glad the ironx worked out, you will likely have some more areas pop up so keep the stuff around. Unless you have a duriable coating you need to reapply your "wax" to the area you worked.

Cheers,
GREG

You should be fine, but there can be some degration of the coating. just watch how the area acts when you wash the car over the next few washes.

Cheers,
GREG

I have been noticing yellow spots since I bought my WP BRZ and luckily was always able to wash them off with some pressure.... until this weekend. I noticed a fresh yellow "poop" like substance on my roof rail and i carefully removed it only to find a yellow stain. I washed and washed and no luck. My next acts of steps will be wax, clay, then that Iron-X stuff. Crossing fingers! Hate NJ with all this humidity and bugs.

UPDATE: Didn't believe it, but I heard about leaving the car in sunlight and the spots will slowly fade. I looked at my car this morning and took me a while to find it. It faded so much. So I am not nervous anymore. Still will concentrate on that area when I wash the car next, but glad my new car isn't ruined.... yet.

My car is in the sun all day (no garage for me) and I have the brake dust all over and its a pain to get rid of. Some of it comes out with clay bar but it takes a bunch of passes as it's extremely stubborn. I bought IronX off amazon and it worked beautifully
