I wonder if those guys who have supercharged or turbo'd their vehicles ever got this issue..I know some of them did not even change any parts in the vehicle, but some of them did. like the 400hp guy..

Eggzachary! @Sargy, having your dyno results as well will be perfect because it will add a new data point from a different group - remember that some cars had a reflash, some got a new ecu, others had engine work done, ... and the lucky ones didn't need any of it. We're trying to compare dyno results for the four variants because there's a rumoured power drop for post-CEL cars and we want to see if there's anything to that.

Sorry, I really didn't mean to spoil anything. When you post your dyno results I'll pretend to be surprised :happy0180:

My car is running well for 400 miles after the ECU replacement and I'm glad they will cover the car for 7yrs or 100k miles. However, if it's a total lemon and they have to swap out the engine at some point, I will be wishing I could get a full refund via CA lemon law. Not sure what to do
I'm glad you posted this. Do you mind commenting under this thread I started. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...t=compensation

I wouldn't sign anything that takes away my right to use the Lemon law. Unless it was like $8000 off the car.

jmelgar23, BRZ limited, 2434 miles, 6029XX, 1st day in shop, Long Island,NY

CEL/SL light came on as I was parking and stayed on throughout the day Surprisingly, both lights disappeared the next day. Brought it in to the shop anyways. Hopefully it's not as bad as it seems for other members on this board.

Personally, I wouldn't sign away your legal rights.

The 7 year, 100K warranty retails from Subaru for an ungodly amount ...but allegedly the cost to the dealer is just over $1200.

Is $1220 worth giving away your lemon law rights? That's what you'd need to decide.

Totally agree with TurnOne. Do not sign away your rights.

My lemon law is restricted by time and or miles. I will be hitting the miles limit in about 3 months so that's another thing to consider.

Update: I'm almost at 2200 KM, CEL/SL came at around 1830. Car idles fine now, so it is fixed (so far - no ECU reflace / replace).

Got a call back today from Toyota Belgium I explained it again to them (for the third time) that there's a chance it will come back and that eventually (like in the US) ECU needs to be replaced.
I'm happy they are atleast calling me back and that they're taking their time to listen to my concerns.
Oh well, time to enjoy this awesome car some more.

10/11 - new ECU installed and approved by Subaru HQ in Japan.

10/21 - SOA offers good faith compensation of 7yr / 100,000 mile warranty and 3yr / 40,000 mile maintenance plans

10/23 - dropped car off at dealership for paint repair to driver’s side (paint was damaged by bird droppings while the car was parked outside for three weeks getting the CEL light repaired)

10/23 - SOA sent me a release form for the compensation. In order to get the warranty and maintencne plans I have to release Subaru from all legal liability on the vehicle. In other words, I release my right to evoke California’s Lemon Law. I wish they had told me this tradeoff was required to accept their compensation. Not sure what to do?
Don't do it, at least not right away. Get the offer in writing and tell them you will let them know in 6 months (or a year) once you have had time to test the car some more. The extended warranty is useless for now since the car already has full warranty for 3 years plus more on certain components like the drivetrain.
