We drive a Subaru made Toyota.

THIS:

From the makers of this:

Aesthetics comes from the greek word aisthetikos, meaning "esthetic, sensitive, sentient, pertaining to sense perception"

That's why it's very personal.

Although there are very universal base level principals of aesthetics, such as the golden ratio, symmetry etc.

Pushrod V8 is efficient in the ways I care about: power/weight and power/size, and they're not so bad in terms of fuel-efficiency per horsepower for N/A. I ran one in my FD RX7. It was fun... Max mpg I got was 29mpg on the highway, and I ran several 475+ mile tanks with that car (had big tank for thirsty rotary)

Meanwhile the LT1 pushrod V8 makes about 1hp per pound, while the FA20 makes only barely more than half that.

Power/liter is only important if you are displacement-limited by racing class rules. Otherwise, so what? Pushrod cam-in-block V8 is a great design solution because it is compact, it makes great power/weight, and it carries its weight very low. Which is why you see them swapped into all kinds of cars, including of course the FT86. Not many FA20-swapped Corvettes out there though, despite the superior power/liter...

I sure as hell hope no one is dumb enough enough to swap out a V8 for a 4 banger with half the power......

Just pondering what the HP rating for the LT2 might be. Based on history..

LS1 - 350hp
LS2 - 400HP
LS3 - 430HP
LT1 - 460HP

I would guess about 485 maybe a bit more if we're lucky.

Only 6 days left.....

Three times the price, three times the displacement, twice the power, four times as ugly.

Wait it turns off cylinder deactivation if you're not in economy mode? Huh...

Do you not use it because it runs rough on 4 cylinders?

I keep it in SPORT mode. There's a knob on the center console that allows you to select which mode you want. Here's the rundown:

Weather Mode
In inclement weather, the vehicle senses and adapts to road conditions, distributing appropriate power to the rear wheels. With tailored Traction Control and throttle progression, Corvette promotes more confident driving in rain or snow. Not available on ZR1.

Eco Mode
To reduce engine labor and conserve fuel, Eco Mode utilizes Active Fuel Management. This optimizes efficiency by acting as a 4-cylinder when V8 power is not required. Fuel economy is automatically maximized until aggressive acceleration is called for. An Eco index display is available. Not available on ZR1.

Tour Mode
Tour Mode is the default setting for everyday driving and road trips. Engaged systems relieve stiffness from shock damping and improve comfort for long-distance driving. Customizable gauge cluster can display audio, navigation and phone data.

Sport Mode
Sport Mode works best in your favorite sports car environments, when aggressive responsiveness and power are needed. Magnetic Ride damping is stiffened, but tempered. The dashboard display changes, easily revealing RPMs, and the throttle note becomes more audible.

Track Mode
Track Mode is designed exclusively for track driving. Launch control provides maximum off-the-line acceleration. Steering effort and Magnetic Ride damping adjust to provide maximum responsiveness, Performance Traction Management is enabled and throttle progression optimizes for track performance. The gauge cluster configuration offers a C7.R race-inspired display, complete with shift lights.

Okay I did some reading, sounds like the load has to be very low for it to turn on anyways. I find it crazy that GM bragged so much about AFM being so great for fuel efficiency (I think some guy actually said "we increased the displacement so AFM is more useful! more displacement helps fuel economy!"), yet you need to be in "eco" mode to have it actually turn on.

Given how long the gearing is on the Vette, it's most useful when you're idling or going down a hill.

I may have to try it now. I travel 52 miles each way to work so spend a lot of time on the turnpike just cruising along. It'll be interesting to see how it transitions in and out of 4 cyl mode.
