And that's such a hard decision to make, us poor poor 1st world people suffering so badly and stuff
Agree. You can make a heavy car perform well on track... It'll just end up costing you in consumables.

ND Miata is exceptionally light for what it is (stripped down 2 seat modern convertable), but I'd argue the FT86 platform is also very light for what it is (modern 2+2 sports coupe). Yes the ND is lighter, but isn't as safe or rigid, and doesn't have a roof, cupholders, glovebox, rear seats, spare tire, telescoping steering, etc.

I don’t see it either. Polar opposites...

OP, you did say in your first post not to take this thread too seriously.

[QUOTE=rennlistuser3;3251815]More C8 leaks

the part that's a bummer for me is the 3577 lb (1622 kg) curb weight. That is a porker of a sports car . Definitely the equivalent of a piano strapped to an FT86 in terms of handling feel.

The vette will blow by an 86 while dragging 2 pianos

It could probably blow by an 86, while towing an 86.

yeah no need to take it too seriously at all, just a chance to chat about the exciting new C8 among car enthusiasts. I love cars, all cars. Heck I'm even considering a Wrangler. No need for egos to get bent for comparing a Corvette to an FT86.

Besides, I wouldn't go as far as saying they're polar opposites. I own an FT86 and am considering C8 and yes the C8 is well within my means. They're not polar opposites to me but that's just me. They are viable options both for the same purpose: driving pleasure

But I guess that's just me. Don't mean to offend anyone but that's my 2 cents.

Guess it mostly depends on what you want from your car...and of course what your budget is. Wouldn’t say polar opposites either, but hard to draw comparisons. They’re coupes...and that’s about it lol In all honestly, if I could afford one, I’d be all over a C8. Excited to see them out on the streets for sure

ND2 Miata (2019+) finally have telescoping steering btw.
I'd like to add among other things, Miata also doesn't have the ability to comfortably fit drivers over 6" tall.

I want 2650 lb (1200kg) curb weight, NA flat crank V8, say about 400hp significantly more or less is fine, manual transmission, Mid-engine, transparent roof, beautiful exterior, screaming exhaust, 30 MPG average, Toyota Camry reliability and maintenance costs, high quality leather interior with all the amenities of a modern vehicle, and it has to be a new car with a warranty (no old modded rust buckets), with about $45,000 US in cost.

No such vehicle exists that I'm aware of (or even can exist to begin with within current day technology limitations and cost), so I'll cross shop what is available in hope for a best match

makes sense now?

That's me. MomHawk hates it when I get serious about buying a new car because she knows the list of candidates will be way too long and unless I have an immediate need (car is down now, needs to be replaced) it could take me weeks or months to come to a decision.

My list is always a cross-shop nightmare.

Then when you finally make a decision and go to buy it and start negotiating.....
