Toda Racing flywheel and clutch weights

My Toda clutch and flywheel kit turned up this morning. Straight onto the scales.

It's come up under their quoted weight, which is always good. Toda was the lightest I could find in Japan. I run a Toda kit in my ae86 as well. Toda said to me they focused on intertia and balance more than weight, it just so happened it came out the weight that it did.

Flywheel is a good kg less than the TRD one I was running.

Hopefully I can use my mates hoist on the weekend.

Did you have a trd flywheel on your gt86? Or your ae86? If you had it on your gt86, what did you ditch it?

The good thing about the TRD flywheel, is that you keep your warranty on the engine. Using another flywheel is questionable.

I had the TRD one when I cared about the warranty. Now I don't.

Wow. That's only a smidge heavier than my aluminum flywheel. Such jealous. Yours is way prettier. You're going to be picking up all kinds of chicks with that combo.

Not sure.

I have basically the same kit in my 400whp track car without issue.

Bringing the thread up from the dead.

Any idea if this kit comes with a release bearing? If not, will an original Subaru one fit?

I have their flywheel but use an exedy clutch. My understanding is that the Toda clutch and flywheel are both separately interchangeable with the stock items so the stock throw out will work just fine. I don't know if buying the clutch and flywheel together comes with a throw out bearing tho.

Ah nice. Guess i'll just buy the throw out bearing separately. Would you recommend getting a new pilot bearing as well?

For the few extra dollars it would cost you may as well do it at the same time.
