You can argue in circles about how a high price can be justified, but there's no freaking way it makes sense (or will be successful) sold at a similar price as a Porsche. The Supra name doesn't have that pull. Neither does BMW.

And based on the probable specs, 3200-3300 lb and 380 hp, it's going to have a difficult time keeping pace with Caymans.

I think it'll do well against the base cayman. The S will beat the Supra for sure. Then again good luck finding a Cayman S under 80k...

“We agreed on the packaging, like where is the hip-point of the driver, what's the wheelbase, the width, where's the fuel tank, where's the A-pillar, this was around the middle of 2014... After that we completely separated our team. After that, no communication with each other.”

"Toyota is open to the idea of a new alliance that would bring back the MR2 or Celica."

Believe it or not, you can order a Cayman to whatever spec you want (from the options). And that includes one with no options. What's so difficult to understand about something like that? It's called having patience. And I doubt Toyota showrooms will be overflowing with Supras. More than likely you'll have to order those as well.

Maybe stock for stock, but shouldn't the turbo 6 in the Supra have a much greater potential than the Caymans turbo 4?

Also, I think you underestimate how iconic the Supra name is, especially for people under 30.

^^The reality is this car will be slower than a Camaro SS. Let's just get that out of the way. And I'm not going to muddy the waters talking about aftermarket modifications. The Supra nameplate isn't so mythical magical thing. And it would appear that the amount of sub 30 year old driving enthusiasts is at an all time low.

Let's see all those under 30 who can afford a 70k car.

True, but add the LSD, the nice stereo, the color and wheels you want and it's 80 right away.

A Camaro ILE can be had for about 44k and it will be one of the fastest cars under 120k on a track, what is your point? I can't imagine that a modern Cayman can outrun a ILE on most tracks, but I could be mistaken.

You really think the base version of the Supra will sell for 70k? Besides, there is a difference between being able to 'afford' something and the ability to get approved for a big ass loan.
