wtf how come these guys pay only $1,000 extra for auto. i guess it's TMCA's way of bringing the price of the manuals down and making the auto buyers cover for it.

In Canada/usa/japan the auto is approx $1000-1200 more than the manual. I know the pricing is sharp but now the fact that even NZ charges only $1000 extra, it peeves me off even more.

Roughly adding it up it's about $32k NZD for all TRD catalogue parts but that's based on yen RRP which is always about 25% higher than street price.

Who knows what cost price is but wouldn't surprise me if you could get full options for that.

Good to finally see some prices on the Toyota Versons.
Pricing is better than what I thought.

There is a big difference between the pricing of the BRZ and 86. BRZ is approx 18,000 more

TRD Info

For drivers who really want to stand out, Toyota New Zealand is offering a Special Edition Toyota Racing Development (TRD) package. Only 20 examples of the TRD model will be created initially, with customers able to choose their preferred transmission and colour before the vehicle is built to order by Toyota trained engineers.

The TRD86 has a Toyota Racing Development front spoiler, side skirts, rear lower bumper spoiler and boot spoiler. Forged aluminium 18 inch alloy wheels are TRD designed, with a black finish. It is further enhanced by a TRD high response muffler with four tip exhaust and TRD sports air filter. A Brembo brake package completes the TRD86 package.

“We’re not holding anything back with this Special Edition TRD car. It’s our flagship for sports car fans and a showcase of the best bolt on equipment developed for the 86. This car will sport top line components from Brembo and TRD. The custom made body kit, exhaust and diffuser have all been specifically developed by Toyota Racing Development to make this a stand-out car,” says Neeraj Lala.

A unique T-mesh pattern has been created for the 86 and is used in several places around the car as a subtle link to Toyota’s heritage. It is used in the front grille, door switch bases, instrument panel, sun visors, meters, triangular rear centre fog light and the spare wheel cover.

The 86’s logo incorporates a piston design, hinting at the car’s front boxer engine, rear-wheel drive powertrain layout. It also represents the vehicle’s tyres sliding in a four wheel drift, highlighting the impressive balance of the 86. This unique logo features on the front fenders of all models.

The 86 is available in seven exterior colours, all new to the Toyota range: Pegasus White, Tornado Grey, Lightning Red, Midnight Black, Molten Silver, Galaxy Blue and Burnt Orange.

-full aero kit (no diffuser) ~150,000
-18" SF2 - 328,000
-air filter - 9000
-exhaust - 120,000
-brake kit - 820,000

Total: 1,427,000 yen = ~$23,050 at listed RRP. More realistic street price of ~$17-20k

Missing:

-coilovers OR lowering springs (surprising as they have both options available, car will look weird without a drop)
-sway bars
-strut bars
-door stabilisers
-shift knob
-hid kit (bulb upgrade)
-turn signals
-push start knob
-radiator cap (I don't recommend these anyway due to top/bottom tank blowouts)
-fuel cap cover
-oil filler cap
-sports oil filter

If you really want that look I don't think the manual TRD would be a bad buy. I'm more after the suspension/accessories than the kit myself.

The brake kit is by far the biggest cost in that model and we will see some much cheaper options coming soon, including maybe some converted TRD/brembo kits for other vehicles.

Yeah good point easy enough to get the aero kit for the "look" and add some aftermarket parts... there's no indication of when the 86TRD will be released anyway.

By the sounds of things they have "Toyota trained engineers" building them here in NZ, so will be importing a few of the parts and building them from 86GTs in stock I'd imagine.
