First things first, what should i get in my new BRZ?

Friends! how's it going? Im finally getting my BRZ on monday. Im thinking of getting a Intake to start things off on my project. Any recommendations? I'd like to hear from some of your experiences and advice on what to get. Thanks!

Hey man welcome! Congratulations on your new car. I think you should keep it stock for a bit. Take some time to get used to it before you start switching things up. After you do, make sure you have a vision of what you want the car to be and that of course is determined by what the primary use of the car is, your budget etc. These cars are pretty good from factory, but better tires make a huge difference in how it feels. If you want a bit more power, catless headers and tune will get you that. There is an enormous amount of aftermarket support for this platform so just do some research and see what you like. Second on the same sort of mods

with a word of caution.
Stickier tires ( even a 225) will make the car seem less darty and "fun" and make the lack of power more apparent.

Keep it stock for a bit and let the car tell you what it needs.

Overall there's alot of fun to be had on the car for some simple bolt ons.
OFT with e85 tune
Header
Tires
Associated brakes and brake fluid.
Diff and trans fluid
AOS
and finally a oil cooler for serious track usage.

That's about as fun as you can get with it being mostly stock
You could do shocks and springs. I think the sachs dampers with sti associated lowering springs is dynamite. The koni with eibach is a decent set up as well. and then you start looking at sway bars. 20mm front and 18mm rear is about as stiff as you wanna go with skinnier tires.
then the rabbit hole gets deeper from there.

Intake is a waste of money

Even with a big budget, for intake, a drop in filter would be as far as I go.

I would start with handling mods, but shop smart, don't buy anything that will be replaced down the road.

Alot, and I mean alot, of modifications available are not required, or, there are are other ways to achieve a certain goal, as stated above, swaybars are one way, me, I wouldn't, and didn't change my swaybars, I went with different dampers and springs to achieved my desired result, both modifications will allow you to tweek the handling characteristics, but both do it differently.

Tuning solutions, there's a few, some go OFT, I went Ecutek

Exhausts, when NA I went decatted OEM header and cat back and got great results, other went a different way and got typical results, but with a diffetent sound.

The questions you need to ask is "what do I want from my car", track, street, hard parked stupidity, from there work out a budget, your budget will dictate what mods you get, hopefully the mods you get show a reward.

The other thing to look at is your local rules and regulations, modifications and emmisions for your area can also dictate what you do.

Read every build thread, don't spend 1 cent on mods till you do.

Have fun, and stick to your budget.

Oh, and adding 8 psi makes these things awesome fun, totally screws the budget, but awesome fun.

Hey BRZ fans. I’m purchasing a 2020 just for a fun commuter car and wondering about some of the dealership available options: kicker subwoofer, STI short throw shifter, rear diffuser.

Anyone have experience with any of these for feedback? Looking forward to my new cruise mobile!

Leave it stock for awhile and learn what the car is about. After living with it for awhile you’ll have a better idea about what your needs are.

intakes dont do ANYTHING, get a catback, its an easy at home install, you dont need a tune, and it adds so much to the presence of the car

catbacks just reduce weight and change the sound... if you are going for more power there are only 3 things that are "cheap". drop in filter, catless headers, flex fuel tune.

as always, the question you have to ask yourself is:

are you modding for the sake of modding? or are you trying to correct/improve a deficiency in the car?

If you mod for the sake of modding, just go see what's trending on Instagram or Facebook or whatever you think you like. Intakes are a waste of money to some, but to others the sound is worth the cost.

If you're trying to improve some aspect of the car, you should list out what you don't like about the car and go from there...

Vague questions bring about a wide variety of answers, someone will answer it correctly but it's a lot of chatter without real feedback.

All I have done to mine so far are a drop in K&N filter and lighter 17" wheels, keeping the stock tires to keep the grip down and the low power commute more fun.

If handling is the emphasis (and it probably is since you bought a BR-Z and not a Challenger), a simple set of camber bolts +an alignment for the front suspension will make the single biggest difference you can hope for under $200. That would be the first thing I do. Then a better set of tires.

From there, save your money and don’t make any impulse buys until you’re sure you know what YOU want.

PS - the best money spent on these cars is on auto-x and HPDEs. Start there.

for cruising?
footwell lightning, premium package interior, clear bumper applique. and the subwoffer. skip the shifter. its not really worth it. and exterior stuff can be had cheaper at bayson

You should do nothing for at least a year....
That should give you time to decide what you think could be a little different/better in your car.
IMO, modding is down to personal taste.
Enjoy it as is for a while!
