Once again, this car was made to be entry level / affordable sports car, if your going to spend that much money, why would you not go up a level in cars? The greatest thing about this car is the bang for the buck. But I guess if you the time and the extra $$$ to blow, go for it.

Same reason why a whole slew of us bought this car - it wouldn't be the same car.

Even with thousands of dollars worth of mods on these cars (and several of us here have already done that by the amount of topics on aftermarket wheels, tires, brakes, suspension, electronics, cosmetics, ECU tunes, intakes, exhausts, and so on), it's still a great deal, a well-behaved DD, a great looking car, an absolute joy in handling, and an incredibly fun ride. You could spend more money and still never get all of that.

I would never associate HKS with the word fail. The price is not far off the competition and 30% increase in power and torque is fine.

An 86 with a supercharger probably won't be the same car either. It will become unbalanced and require more tire (and more wheel) and suspension adjustments to compensate for more tire. $10k+ later and you might start to wonder if you bought the right car.

I'm not sure how anyone could say "all this car needs is 100 more horses." The tires would melt!

That said, I think the HKS 86 is awesome. Just saying it's not black and white.

For that price I would have bought a different car...

If i needed power for daily use and general overall performance, id go with a turbocharger. Foot-to-pedal is magical on a turbo car, and once boost hits its a wonderland of just outright speed, which the brz does sorely lack.

IRL, id probably go with a turbo. because i doubt ill end up using it as a dedicated track toy since i already have my rx7 that fills that spot.
I shall frame this and place it on my wall. In the future, i think more Turbo Kits will be made rather than SC, based on the same reasons you just gave. Thanks WoW

That's one reason I'm basically deciding to eventually get a twin scroll supercharger instead of a blower or turbo. More balanced linear power, plus the whine sounds sweet.

LOL a what now?

I've never heard it called that but I guess twin scroll is the same as twin screw?

Twin scroll doesn't make a whine. And don't get caught up in the hype. Twinscroll is decent, but there are downsides.

Twin scroll is not the same as twin screw.

Twinscroll pertains only to the turbine housing of a turbo. It divides the pulses for more even pairing to improve the efficiency of the turbine. This will help with response, but it is really marginal until larger turbos are used.

No no...i was referring to You. get it? your the Mr Sarcasm (in regards to you "framing" his quote) lol

Anyways, this SC is nice, but after reading all the inputs, it totally negates what i thought i knew about SC. I always thought SC = instant power/ less wear on motor. TC = needs time to spool and THEN the big power boost hits/ more parts/ more wear on motor. Oh well.
