You can program your car to unlock both locks when approaching from the driver side, search.

To anyone with the Smart-Key entry, I'd just take it to your local garage.

Before the service of mine, it would sometimes not lock at all. Sometimes it would randomly lock, then unlock, and lock again. Sometimes it was locked and I couldn't unlock it. Sometimes it unlocked itself without me pressing any buttons.

I took it to the dealer I bought it from, and they changed the batteries in both my keys. I've no problem to report since then.

Just my 2 cents, worth a shot bringing it in. You still have warranty probably, so it won't cost you a thing either way.

Did an experiment. (two trials)

If I start the car but don't move it at all, get out and leave it running, it does not seem to lock me out in the ten minute span that I timed.

If I then move the car 20 feet and get out, it locks me out within 5 minutes. I did not stand there and wait so can't say exactly when.

Interesting... I thought the only time the car locks itself is if you unlock with key fob and dont open the doors within a certain amount of seconds.

I wish mine would lock itself as I drove off like most modern cars do now :\

I will give it a try when I get home and see if it does the same.

Yep. You have one minute after unlocking to open the door., If you don't it locks again. It should never lock it's self if running though.

Yeah, I wish for this option also. I wonder if it can be done by CAN BUS.

I believe this is probably it.

When my fob battery was dying, everytime I turn off the car the dash yellow icon would blink and beep for a split second saying I don't have my key.

Problem went away after I replaced the battery.

That yellow blinking and beeping sequence is actually the car telling you about your key battery being low. Its not some malfunction caused by a key with low battery. (The manual says so :P)

So you're saying you're not touching any locks on the car, and after moving the car it locks itself?

Anyone here have a car that locks itself after you've done some driving? Mine doesn't, and I have to remember to lock the doors when I start driving. These days a lot of cars automatically lock the doors when you start driving. Anyone's FR-S/BRZ do that? Could be what's happening to NOHOME.
I'm pretty sure if the key is in the ignition the doors won't lock unless they are both closed. I have an aftermarket keyless entry and this gave me the run around for a while during install since I thought something was hooked up wrong. Why OPs doors suddenly lock I have no idea

The only situation that this happens is if I have warmed the car up while I shovel the lane, then move the car back 20 feet to clear the top of the lane. It will not lock while warming up, only after I have moved the car back got out leaving the car running. Somewhere in the time it takes me to shovel the top half of the lane, the car locks itself.

The car does not lock if I just back out of the driveway and say, drive to work, this has to do with me exiting the car.

Maybe next thing to try is back up, turn the car off, restart and get out. See if it re-sets something by shutting it off and re-starting?

Or I can shut it off and leave it off with the key in the ignition to see what happens?

Or I can ignore the whole thing and not leave the key in the ignition ever.

I will see about a new battery for the key fob. Is it a common battery or is it a Scion specific cell?
