Not a problem. As you know we have already developed parts for the FRS/BRZ chassis as well.

Are you having the same thought as I? The only downside is that all my wheels are 5x114, I am trying to hold out to see if an STI version will be released and like its counterpart be in 5x114 as well.

18/25 IS great for such sports car and it definitely gets a LOT better MPG than a RX8. It may not get as good MPG as the FRS/BRZ but hey FRS/BRZ runs on Prius tires, has less HP, and they are about 13 years newer than the S2000.

You are looking into buying a sports car and crying about the MPG figures of 18/25???? Go buy a Prius C and call it a day. How are you ever going to go to a track event when your MPG will drop significantly?

I'm not at all mocking FRS/BRZ, i think they are great cars. But calling 18/25MPG horrible on a sports car that screams 9000rpm is just wrong.

Now the RX8s get HORRIBLE MPG. Go check it out on RX8club.com. :happy0180:
I am very late to the game here, but I wanted to comment on this topic since I have personal experience. I have a 2003 stock AP1 S2000. While my DD was in the shop, I had to DD the S2K for a week and a half. For fun (or for no fun), I decided to see how high I could get my mpg. My commute is all city, 25 minutes each way. I managed to get 26 mpg. No, I didn't mis-type that. It's what I got. Granted it was no fun at all, and I might as well have treated it like a Civic. In case you're curious, all highway, I've only managed 28.4 mpg. So if you want good mpgs, it's possible, but you might as well by a Civic/Corolla :happy0180:

Short gears = death to EPA city economy because the EPA test will hold low gears whereas sensible drivers will shift up. When it comes to sports cars, extremely aggressive drivers are typically the only ones who can get as low as the EPA rating since they slam the brakes too much.

I know CSG Mike was hitting 133mph at one point entering Turn 1 when he caught a draft. Even so, car did not want to fish its way to the wall. Brakes, again, are simply amazing. Two-piston floating caliper with a much beefier brake pad up front and possibly a larger Master cylinder. Those are the two things I wish the S2k was a little better at right now: aero and brakes. Power in the S2k >> 200hp BRZ/FR-S.

I can't wait until we can start developing the car further. The potential is very high for this car.
David, how steep is the banking at ACS? When I had my AP2 out on CMS (Charlotte Motor Speedway) I didn't notice any lack of rear end stability through turns 3 and 4 (115-120 mph). Stock vehicle on Z1SSs. Banking at that track is 24°.

After getting my BRZ cancelled and a lot of time to ponder and contemplate I ended up pulling the trigger on a ap2 and couldn't be more happy, especially since it's my weekend car

@bungholio, is that your S2K in your avatar? Are those Regamasters? If so....

I can see why you'd want to hold out for a 5x114.3 FR-S/BRZ

Nice S2k's are pretty rare in these parts. If I were ready to buy right now, I'd definitely go check this car out. Under 15k miles - Yum!

No highway? I never got under 28mpg's, ever in the five years I owned my S. Even when I had 4.77 gears I was still around 28 avg.

Opposed, it depends how fast you travel on the highway and if you're drafting or not. Without any other cars around, on a flat surface and windows up you cannot do any better than 26-27 mpg when cruising at 80 mph. Just not possible. On the flip side when traveling in a pack of cars going 80-90 I've gotten 33 mpg out of a tank.

KevinDuMa, that S2000 looks super clean. May I kindly suggest that you get a paint protection kit (clear bra) installed on the front of your car? Doesn't take much more than 1-2 years for the front of that poor car to be all scratched up from road debris

Here are 2 pics of mine from the last track event I attended:

in the paddock next to my buddy's 350Z

Action shot with a 911 that I "battled" with for several sessions (I ultimately passed him).
