Hoosier R7 ?????
Time to retire the 710's (past time actually which contributed to a minor incident T10 at Sebring)
I've never owned any Hoosiers but I'm considering R7's Thoughts regarding this choice as well as size selection for my 17x9 wheels?

They'll be a fuckton faster than V710's, but wear out quicker. Probably use less tire pressure too.

They're designed for competition of course and they will probably have the typical Hoosier life span: Good for 3-12 sessions (depending on car) and then 1-2 seconds slower after that.
Unless you're competing in a class where that's the 'tire to have', I would say that it is not the tire to have. If you're just lapping, your money will go further with something else.

I've been using the A7 for half a season in autocross. I had a set of BFG R1-S tires before them. The A7s are noticeably gripper than the R1-S. I've got about 50+ runs on the A7s and they are just now starting to fall off.

The R7 is meant to last longer than the A7 but not that much longer. Like rice said, I would only use R7s if you are actually competing or if you are getting take-offs from teams for dirt cheap.

What these guys said.
If you're just doing HPDE, I'd go with NT-01 and call it good. |

I'm considering the same tire for possibly next year. Based on tire rack a 225/45-17 is 9" wide. I'm thinking of using this on a 17x9 rpf1. After I use the 245/40-17 A048's I just ordered for autox. I have a co-driver so I'm sure they'll go quick, but having a co-driver will also help keep heat in the tires The reason I'm looking at a 225 is that it'll keep me in the NXD class for NASA. No SCCA events here in Sioux Falls. Too many Miatas lol
