Looks quite good, nice job. I likely wouldn't have taped so close when I was respraying, but I think with some polish a few weeks down the road you will be able to cut the hard line down so it would not be noticeable.

I'm just an amateur painter, but I'm guessing instead of taping, you would apply without taping, and wet sand the overspray for a blend?

I have a similar, but not so dramatic blemish I've just covered with touch up paint for the time being.

4 coats of paint and clear? or?

Thanks to the OP for taking the time to post good information and think about the community enough to share it.

hard to explain on text. but when doing a professional blend. you pic a larger area than the damaged area. ln this case after doing the repair wet sand with high grit 1500-2000 uniformly. like up to the headlight, fender to bumper and maybe all the what to the mouth of bumper then tape on body meeting with the body and hood. then mask off entire vehicle. dust several coats on the damaged are do not get color further on to "good" areas as much as possible first two coats on the primer only. then two more light coats going passed original primered area. then when doing clear start by clearing areas that received color. then last coat to edges and slightly beyond your blend area.

I should try a real diy in next time I get a bumper repair

So many questions.

What was the clear coat you used? Got a link from where you got it?

On the site: http://www.automotivetouchup.com/tou...paint/buypaint

Which did you buy? Just the normal aerosal paint or the ready to spray? What IS the ready to spray paint?

I am in the same boat, but my front bumper is scratched in the front near the license plate. The size of the scratch is 1in wide and .5 in tall.

Did you use wet or dry sand paper and can you post a picture of the green sponge like sanding instrument and also, how much sand paper of each did you need ?

My damage is the same size but with all the paint scraped off down to the plastic.
