Emergency triangles kit and a set of spare light bulbs. Both things are mandatory in Spain; I wouldn't carry a single thing if not.
Conveniently, the dealer gives away the triangles in a pouch with Velcro, so it sticks to the boot mat and doesn't slide from side to side.

Nice. Triangles are also mandatory in South Africa, but mine are in horrible plastic boxes which won't fit anywhere out of the way, and they slide around and irritate me. I like the velcro idea - I'll try that

Other than triangles, only a small picnic blanket to protect the carpet if I have to load anything messy.

Impreza cargo mat, with half sized rubbermaid storage tote containing paper towels, microfiber cloths, basic cheap tools, fix a flt, flashlight, ice scraper and a fleece blanket.
