What do you drive now?

With the production version of the FT-86 likely to be displayed at this December's Tokyo Auto Show, I think this would be an interesting time to ask everyone on the forum what they are currently driving and how it would factor into an FT-86 purchase.

I created a poll to add another facet to the topic.

I'll begin!

Currently I have a '11 VW Golf TDI 6mt 4dr that is used as my daily driver/cavernous everything hauler. It's the largest car I've owned in a long time, after a string of MINI's and an NA Miata. The TDI gets amazing fuel economy but is a bit insulated and oversized for my tastes. The FT-86 would replace this as a daily driver. The drop in fuel economy would be worth it as long as the FT is that much more fun to drive.

I also have an '07 Lotus Exige S that is my fair-weather/track-day/fun car. Two cars is my preferred limit; one reasonably fun daily driver and one balls-out track car.

Let's hear it from you guys. Post pics of your car[s] too!

Cheers,
Ryan

Currently drive a relatively beat up 95 Civic hatchback. Over the winter Its experienced a plethora of issues, and currently the muffler happily resides in the hatch lol.

Either way, I'd like to keep the Civic as a toy, beat it up, fix it, race it at the track a few times or something, but in reality I'll probably sell it and use the money for the FT-86 in some fashion. Likely fuel.

Love your Exige... I'm pretty jealous lol. Love those cars. And my Girlfriend likes your Golf, just make it a GTi with flappy paddles and she would be in love with it. I personally don't care for em. But your Exige...... *drool*

I'm currently driving a 05 Tacoma and when the weather is nice, I'll take out my Duc. Nothing beats owning a truck!

i have a 2006 Tacoma double cab and a 1991 MR2 turbo. have to see how things go, but there's a chance i'll be getting an FA5 Si and S13 240sx in addition to the first two. then it comes down to if i like the FT86 better than either of the new additions. the FT would be the fun daily driver for fair weather. taking over DD duty from my truck.

Hey Ryephile, great minds think alike

Besides my 2007 Exige S which I will be keeping a long time. I also have a 2008 S2000 CR and a 330ci which is my daily driver. I'm actually thinking of getting the FT-86 to replace both these cars. With 4 seats, the FT-86 could be used as a DD and I can also use it for track days and autocross.

Amazing! Of the very few S's in the 'states, it's remarkable that we have the exact same configuration [Aspen, touring, TC, starshield]. That would be fascinating if we ended up with the same two cars in our garages. :happy0180:

So far it seems there are lots of Japanese car lovers here, and a handful of truckers.

Hope you didn't replace the battery with PC680 and have the Gotham tune. If so, that would be freaky

We could very well end up with the same two cars in the garage. Mine will most likely be a white FT-86

P.S. I'm EliseAtLeast from LT.

Good to recognize your S/N from LT.

It sounds like our cars were only siblings in the factory. I have a Kold-Fire 270 flash, RLS IC, Cup airbox, and Braille 15# battery. I suppose it is a bit freaky that we both have light batteries and an ECU flash!

I'm not sure what color FT-86 I'd go for at the time. I suppose it depends what colors they offer and what I'm feeling like. The FT-86 Sports G concept on GT5 is a matte white [I think] with a carbon hood. I have to admit it does look pretty good, though the body styling is very different from the second concept.

Cheers,
Ryan

I'm stuck driving a family sedan. 18 years old, driving a deep blue base trim 2003 chevy impala... :/ Wish i could have something with a racing soul since i grew up around racing and the only thing stopping me from having a racecar is funds (aint that everyones story). Honestly, i just want some torque and rwd, anything else is a welcomed bonus coming from a 4000lb underpowered boat.
