Humm so today while looking at the local newspaper I see that Subaru now has this WRX RS model which comes with powered Recaro front seats and Jurid brake pads?

Maybe they will bring out a fully loaded WRX STI and BRZ STI here soon.

Even if the US gets them it doesn't mean we will. Look at the Evo. They couldn't bring them into Canada until the X came alone since the prior gen could not meet our crash test requirements. The RS1 that came to Canada didn't have the lowering springs for some reason. I never could find out why but would guess it didn't meet some requirement or another. Some special versions of the Subies may run into the same roadblocks here.

It would cool just to see them implement the STI catalog here in the States. I remember reading they wanted to expand the brand. I could save on that beautiful STI muffler....

I highly doubt the muffler would make it here. I think the cost to produce it and export it is just too high, and it seems like the production capability is low in general. If you didn't know the STi muffler is manufactured by fujitsubo, which is why I state high cost and low output. If there is an STi muffler (which looking at the test car it looks like it's just the stock system), it would most likely be a US manufactured version.

SoA did this with the STi exhaust option for the WRX and STi. The JDM version is made by fujitsubo and not the same one available for USDM, which is made by nameless.

IF Subaru introduced a more powerful BRZ, call it a BRZ STI (or whatever), with a pound per horsepower ratio of around 10:1, for around $35,000, then I would seriously consider it. I wouldn't put a deposit down in advance before driving one or pay over MSRP, but if it checked all the right boxes I'd seriously consider selling my Cayman S for one.

And LOL at Subaru not selling a boosted BRZ because it would "hurt their fleet CAFE average". Yeah, because 1000-2000 sports cars per year in the US is going to have any effect on that...

My Monogram FR-S has 9.5 ratio (2850/300) and my cost is $35,000. I doubt Toyota or Subaru would sell a twin at 300hp for $35,000. It would be higher than that. Do you want similar quality wheels, brakes, shocks, exhaust, and interior etc with Cayman to check those boxes? Be ready to pay around $50,000 more realistically. I would buy Cayman for that price.

So far I think the only STI parts that have made it to this side of the pond are a few accessories that are approved by Subaru's factory warranty in Japan, such as the 17" x 7J rims and the flexible tower bar. Not every item in the Japanese STI catalog has this factory approval it seems.

Like for this one here in Canada they even debadged the STI branding on the item itself.

First off, if it cost you $10,000 to modify your FRS into that state, then the cost to Subaru/Toyota is 50% or less.

Also, let's not forget that Subaru already offers the BRZ with upgraded suspension and brakes in the form of the Performance Pack. Naturally a boosted BRZ would need larger wheels but the cost difference between an 8" wheel and 9" wheel is negligible (just picked those sizes as an example).

There's little point arguing these costs though because it's already been discussed about 1000 times...

Nope! Monogram was $30k and JRSC is $5k. I didn't include anything else in this cost.

The only thing that excites me about this is potentially a new head unit that I could put in to my 17 because the one it comes with is absolutely terrible

Not getting my hopes up but just drooling at the possibility. I mean they took navigation away and it's terrible. If not I'll end up like the rest of the guys that got the one piece dash from Canada

And too think it is one of the better HUs so far!

We have placed an embargo on shipping one piece dashes to the US.
