Did you press the oil filter release switch while turning?

I had to use a screwdriver and big hammer on my 2002 once. Even with every different wrench method I tried it wouldn't budge. It took about a half hour because the screwdriver could only turn about 1/8 turn each time and it made a huge mess.

In this car, it'd be easy to use a band or strap type wrench. One thing I love about this car is someone finally put an oil filter in a location where it is easy to get to and doesn't make a mess when changed. I swear every other car has them at bad angles where they spill everywhere or in tight spots so you end up bruised and bleeding and having to clean up drips in places you can't reach. My favorite is when they drip right on the exhaust and there's no way to prevent it.

I have a fram oil filter wrench. Works a charm. Attaches to a ratchet, super convenient.
