Let it be said.... I auto crossed for the first time ever a few weeks ago. I had a problem with under steer not over steer.... With that said my Porsche 944 was way more tail happy then this car and it had 40hp less and an open diff....just saying... The car in the dry isn't as crazy as people make it sound

I'll agree that the car is exceptionally stable. With or without assists.
As for that accident photo, I've seen way worse with these cars. I actually just totaled a silver BRZ at work today for the same type of accident. It was wayyyyy worse though. It's the people who get them and suddenly think they are Takumi Fujiwara that this happens to. As for understeer, the features in autox are generally a lower speed and fairly sharp . Go too fast and turn too sharp, understeer usually happens. As cheesy as it sounds, it's a balancing act Especially on the glorious Prius tires. Though I had a 944 that drove like the tail was on ice too. This brings me back to respect the car. Learn the car.

Update
I haven't bought anything yet. I'm still deciding on what I want to do. I Part of me still loves my 4Runner... I'll probably have to make a decision within a month. |

Actually. I picked up vw corrado for racing. And its as much fun as a 86. I would try to start your driving career with a cheap disposable car first. My first car went sideways and I nailed a tree. That car had lots of wind noise after that..... wait a year. If you still want one then go for it. Good luck to you!

Certainly. Just be wise and cautious. Do not be one of those guys who thinks they are sick because they have a RWD sports car and can "drift" anywhere. Doing silly irresponsible things like that around other cars will get you into a whole mess of trouble. Sounds like you have a reasonable head on your shoulders. Good luck.

There's nothing wrong with buying a RWD car when you're 17.
Just make sure its an older cheaper car because you're more than likely going to have a couple good "learning experiences". FR-S? Probably not the best idea. |

True enough. The only reason i say that is when I was 17 I didn't have the maturity/experience(only been driving for a year) and I certainly didn't have the money. But if you can do it, good on you.
