Octaine booster

anyone else had bade experience with Octaine booster? I was using Gunk trying to go from California 91 Octaine to 63, built up a bunch of carbon and ruined a set of plugs. No check engine lite!!

Edit: looks like you meant 91 to 93. Disregard most of this comment. Except that octane boosters are shady.

Wait, you got 63 octane somewhere? And you put it in your car?

Generally, octane boosters are mostly snake oil. They usually only increase you effective octane rating by 1 or less points. The "points" advertised on the bottle are usually multiplied by 10 or 100 (so 40 points=0.4 octane improvement or 5=0.5). It's all really shady business.

If you really did put gas that bad in your car. You should drain the tank. The only other option is finding some high octane race gas and trying to mix it to a reasonable rating.

One that is not snake oil is ACES IV by BND. A lot of pro race teams use it under the radar.

Its not so much an octane booster, though it does, as its an efficiency improver and its known as a fuel catalyst. Its designed by a Chemical Engineer with lots of ties to pro racing check it out google it.

I just started using it (about 50-100 miles) and I can say my car runs more consistent (less affected by weather) and better throttle response.

On the flip side anything with MMT will also work but there is downsides.

There are a few places in CA that have 93 if they are close to you I don't know. Here in NV we have no 93 any where. So when I fill up my tank with top tear 91 I go to rebel now arco and put in 2 gallons of 100 octane unleaded street fuel. I know this is a Sunoco race gas it is good stuff. This will bring my octane level to 93. Do not use any additives that clame to boost octane. If you can't find any 100 or 93 make sure you use a top tear gas and you will be fine. Of course you can always order some from online and have a drum delivered to you and then you can just mix it your self.
