(Oh, and love the "not to scale" disclaimer. Yea if it was to scale I think I could have managed that shot)
Don't kid yourself. Probably just drunk, dropped the rife and the stray built hit the guy.

I made a similar comment to someone else. With a 10 second delivery time I figure the sniper just got close and the other guy just sort of jumped in front of it.

Well since Canada holds 3 of the top 5 it is obvious we get drunk and drop rifles a lot.

Whatever works.

You think we're too old to sign up for that squad? I'm pretty sure I could be proficient at those procedures.

That's very interesting. Especially the earth curvature thing. It turns out the curvature alone gives a vertical offset of almost one meter at that distance. Way more than my gut feeling guess.

The illustrator needs a lesson in ballistics, though. A short one. Here it is.

In the artillery, we accounted for curvature of the earth , weather, rotation of the projectile as well as circular probability of error. A lot of brainy stuff went into the making the shot. Well done to the shooter and the spotter. I still regret not going infantry instead, since I qualified marksman almost every year, could have done the sniper course.

Probably similar to curling. Had a couple guys with brooms waving at the air in front of the shell.

Imagine how much more accurate he would've been with a rifle that shoots straight.

OK, some smart person ...... answer me this.

If the muzzle velocity of a projectile exiting the barrel of a TAC-50 was 805 m/s (meters per second) and it struck a target at the range of 3,540 meters, taking roughly 10 seconds from the rifle to the target, what was the velocity of the projectile upon impact at the target .... ??

Show your work ...... neatness will be counted.

If target is at the same altitude, in a vacuum the impact speed would be the same as the muzzle velocity, and time would be constrained to whatever it turns out to be. However, if you assume air resistance and/or altitude difference, with a time of flight of exactly 10 seconds things get more interesting. I think I actually had this same problem at some point at college. But it's far too late to start thinking about calculus. Some of us still have to work in the morning...

PS. Now I'm thinking about calculus. . I'll solve it tomorrow. If I remember. Hopefully I forget all about it.
