Yeah, there's no real "urgent need" other than the fact that I want a new bike, and have to sell this one first to do that lol.

Assuming it starts with some juice and needs nothing else for inspection.

Your current plan sounds like what I would do, but that's with the disclaimer that I really am quite lazy.
Appreciate the input. I am also quite lazy, even lazier when it comes to this bike lol, so your advice is sage.

Lost a good portion of my right index fingertip to a router bit on Saturday. Not very fun, can't recommend.

My dad did that once. If I had known I would have suggested you avoid doing that. I hope you heal alright.

On the bright side, you might be allowed a name change to "routerbite". That is something I do recommend.

This is terrible timing. Still trying to convince myself not to get a motorcycle license. And I was winning too.

The last time I got my drivers license renewed the lady ask me if I wanted to keep my motorcycle rider, that there was no additional cost.

I told her no. She asked why not? I told her I have no business riding a motorcycle anymore -

My nephew did that a couple months ago. Just the tip of his pinky. Now that he's over the pain and shock and can laugh about it, we call him the Yakuza of the family.

I did that with an end mill maybe 15 years ago. It'll grow back.

I still kick myself whenever I think about the incident. In my case it was utter stupidity. I deserved much worse.

Nothing better than imported roast pig.

Good thing I had the boat trailer done. Had 2 bad bearings, a couple bad races, and the brakes had air in the lines.

I took a good crescent out of my right thumb with a router about fifteen years ago..from the middle of the tip of the nail curving down about 2/3 of the way down to the base of the nail.... and I'm a pianist by trade. My wife was a wreck and in full panic mode, and I couldn't drive with my hand wrapped in a towel and blood gushing everywhere, so I called an ambulance. They were great... one of the EMTs went into my workshop to try and find the tip of my thumb. Laughing (I guess I was still kind of in shock.. the gravity of the situation hadn't quite sunk in), I asked him if he even knew what a router was; my thumb tip was just a spray on the wall in about 20,000 pieces at that point. The guy at the emergency room wanted to amputate my thumb at the first joint but I wouldn't let him. Cleaned it, antibiotic cream, bandages, and oral antibiotics, followed by a trip to a very respected hand doc who takes care of most of the symphony musicians in my area. He was great.. even the I had shaved off the tip of the bone and it was exposed, he showed me how to care for it and assured me that we didn't need to do anything right away, saying it's pretty amazing how much fingers can regenerate, at least to a certain degree. I played a gig two days later (jazz, where I had the freedom to avoid ever using my thumb and to play in a much more sparse style than I typically do); extremely painful, but I got through it.

Had to go to physical therapy and do a bunch of desensitizing exercises for months so I didn't jump out of my skin every time something touched my thumb, but I made it. That thumb is still a good bit "pointier" than my other thumb and the injury site is still a little tingly/numbish, but I am SOOO grateful for how lucky/blessed I was to not only keep my thumb, but find a great doctor and continue to grow as a pianist and musician.
It takes about 1/100th of a second to have your whole world turned upside down. I take safety around tools very, VERY seriously now. We all should.

Mine was total stupidity, too. Was trying to put a rounded edge on a 1x2" piece of oak moulding, and too lazy to setup the router table. Flipped the router upside down, handguided the wood to the exposed blade... and it caught a knot and pulled my hand right into the blade. Happened so fast; the piece of wood was across my shop like a bolt of lightning and my hand felt like something bumped it.. that's all.. then... well.... I'll stop there. Folks might be eating.

knew a guy that accidentally cut off part of one finger, and more of another finger with a table saw

a few weeks afterwards, he got annoyed at the length of the stub on the one portion, so he used the table saw to even it out.

I think 90% of guys I've met in my life that were missing a digit was because of a table saw accident. I won't use one. In junior high metal shop I did watch a guy saw his index finger down the middle lengthwise with a band saw. Pretty nasty.

Please say this isn't a true story.

I stop myself and think carefully about the forces applied to the work piece each and every time. No excuses.

It's partly why I've consciously changed my focus from the end result, to successful execution of each step of the process. I know it's not a new concept but with all the unexpected benefits I've discovered, I feel like I invented it.
