Just tried that technique on the center console of my '15 WRX. It did work but I probably heated a tiny bit too long and the area looks a bit shiny. Blended it with Aerospace 303 and all is well. Better to underdo it than irreversibly overdo it! In my old hobby restoring pinball machines there were people that restored clear plastic ramps with a benzene torch. There is a fine line between melting the surface slightly and having the ramp bend in half in your hand! Thanks for the pro tip.

A hair dryer works great as well though you need some patience because it takes a bit longer to warm the interior plastics/rubbers.
