I'm not sure when we'll see Rev 2, as we still have to get through some Rev 1s. A few posts up I said that we were going to install an oil cooler and see exactly what it takes to get the intake to fit with it. We have an oil cooler here now, but I'm just trying to find the time to get to it.

Luckily I never said they were in stock, I just said that they were ordered, and then I assumed that meant they would be on their way. However, when we got the sample piece it still had the PN on the endcap for the oiled design as well. Now that may not seem like a big deal on your end, but on our end it is. For example, if you were ordering a replacement, and gave us the part number on the end cap, and sent you an oiled filter instead of a dry filter, you'd be pretty mad That's what I told Snooze on the 18th.

Now we have a revised endcap design, and my purchasing guy has given me a date to expect them to be shipped here. However, for fear of being wrong again, I'm going to just post up a picture of one when they arrive. Pending a disaster, it will be this month.

Guess what?

Dry flow filters are IN!

We'll do some QC on them, and then they'll be ready to order

Can't wait to pick up a set, any chance that you'll sell an extra filter?

Ummm......given it is a dry paper filter I am thinking they are disposable items. That is, they are meant to be replaced.

We will only be selling the Dry Filter as a separate piece. If demand for it is high enough we'll make it an integrated option in the intake kit, but currently only time will tell. So yes, extra filters fer daaaayys

Nah, they're not paper, they're still cotton so they are reusable items. You clean and wash them just like an oiled filter, but then you let them dry. And during that drying period, if you need to drive your car, you can just pop on the oiled filter that comes with the intake kit for the day so you don't have any down time. Pretty spiffy right?

Can someone please explain to me what would be the difference in swapping out the OEM Grimmspeed filter with this dry filter? Any differences?

The "Oiled vs Dry Filter" debate is mainly one of preference. Many people have read stories or heard through the grape vine that an over oiled air filter can get on the hot wire of your MAF sensor and damage it. Which is true, but very rare, and almost always as a result of someone who has just cleaned their air filter and applied too much oil. This is easy to avoid by following the instructions, but if a mistake is made the oil can still be removed or lessened in many ways. The most common method I've heard of people doing is using a Shop Vac on the outlet of the filter to "suck" out the excess oil.

And in some cases there is an issue of legality I believe (correct me if I'm wrong Cap'n Snooze) in certain territories with oiled filters. But then again, I thought it was illegal to do pretty much anything to your car that isn't OEM in Australia :P

But the main difference is that the dry filters have to be more restrictive in order to filter equivalently to the oiled filters, so that's the trade off. More restrictive, more expensive, but do not require re-oiling after cleaning. I can't quantify the performance difference for you unfortunately, but it's same too assume that it will not be a significant hit to overall power.

Just currently waiting for the sales link to go live. We have them here ready to go, but just haven't added a web page for them. I'm bugging Matt about it as we speak, so we can expect it very soon. I'll update the thread as soon as it goes live.
