I pushed 481 WTQ on the stock trans, but that does not mean its stout. I treated it pretty lightly to prevent grenading it. No hard launches, took time shifting, etc.. Many many people making power have exploded 4th just engaging it while pushing boost (not a misshift, not a hard launch, just shifting).

One of the main reasons to swap is because it altogether deals in one shot with the weak transmission. I agree, for an NA K swap it should be mostly fine, but generally people swap to go for bigger power than that. The cost of developing a swap kit needs to be justified by the market and the market for keeping the stock trans is pretty low.

Fair points, at least it's more robust than the early 2000s WRX box.

I agree it makes sense developing the kit around a beefier tranny, especially if it allows the engine to move further back.

I for one would definitely consider the option of keeping the stock trans since the part that really interested me about this swap was the weight loss, having an nice 8000 RPM ~270 HP NA motor, and cost compared to most swaps. I'm after a balanced car with my BRZ, not another tireshredding monster.

I just saw this from Hybrid Racing and found it interesting, it is a RWD K-Series Shifter Bracket.

https://www.hybrid-racing.com/produc...-cable-bracket

I guess it is to be used for applications like the MR2

I'm seriously considering this, I'd like to re-use my GTX2867R.

Are there any recommended upgrades before dropping it in the car? I'd like to have 400-450whp

I don't have any experience building engines but a 1000 dollar K24A2 is a lot cheaper than our FA20 and I've watched a lot of youtube videos and read a lot, and it looks a lot easier to work on than the FA20

Seriously, if they can come up with a more reasonable option than a $6000 Motec I'm in. I just need A/C I don't care about anything else. Haha

I wouldn’t be surprised if they are swamped with business and putting it on the back burner for a while. Also, it’s not like there is a lot of competition in the swap kit business making it necessary to get a product to market.

Sorry if it's already been covered and I missed it. What are the chances of this swap satisfying all requirements for OBD-II to still work?

So the ECU would have its own proprietary connection for tuning?
